''First World Manifesto'' is the twelfth full-length studio album by the American punk rock band Screeching Weasel. It was released on March 15, 2011, on Fat Wreck Chords and is the band's first album in eleven years. It was produced by Mike Kennerty of The All-American Rejects, who has worked with Ben Weasel before on '' These Ones Are Bitter'' in 2007. On February 10, 2011, "Beginningless Vacation" premiered on spin.com as a free download. Screeching Weasel
Screeching Weasel is an American punk rock band consisting of Ben Weasel (vocals), Mike Kennerty (guitar), Mike Hunchback (guitar), Zach "Poutine" Brandner (bass) and Pierre Marche (drums) founded in 1986 by Ben Weasel and John Pierson (musician), John Jughead. Screeching Weasel is originally from the Chicago suburb of Prospect Heights, Illinois. Since their formation, Screeching Weasel have reformed several times with lineup changes. Ben Weasel has been the only constant member, though Jughead was present in every incarnation of the band until 2009. Other prominent members include guitarist/bassist Dan Vapid and drummer Dan Panic, who have each appeared on six of the band's studio albums, and Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt who appeared on one. Fat Wreck Chords
Fat Wreck Chords (pronounced "Fat Records") is an independent record label based in San Francisco focused on punk rock. It was started by NOFX lead singer Michael Burkett (better known as Fat Mike) and his wife at the time, Erin Burkett in 1990. As of 2009, Fat Wreck Chords has released over 300 studio albums. History Fat Mike started his record label Wassail Records in 1987. He put out two NOFX records, The PMRC 7” in 1987 and Liberal Animation in 1988. In 1990, he and his wife Erin Burkett co-founded Fat Wreck Chords, and re-released NOFX's 1987 EP, The P.M.R.C Can Suck on This. In 1992, Fat Mike went on to produce Lagwagon, Propagandhi, and No Use for a Name. In 1993, the label released records by Rancid, Face to Face, and Strung Out. Michael Brian Kennerty (born July 20, 1980) is an American musician and record producer. He is best known as the rhythm guitarist for The All-American Rejects, as well as playing guitar for Screeching Weasel. As a producer he has worked with such artists as Masked Intruder, Direct Hit, Screeching Weasel, The Copyrights, Red City Radio, and Geoff Palmer. He lives in Edmond, Oklahoma, where his studio is also located. Ben Weasel
Benjamin Foster (born April 8, 1968), also known as Ben Weasel, is an American musician best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the punk rock band Screeching Weasel. Early life Foster was born in 1968, and was raised in Prospect Heights, Illinois. He attended River Trails Middle School in Mount Prospect, Illinois, where he first met future Screeching Weasel co-founder John Pierson. Weasel was expelled from John Hersey High School and St. Viator High School. He was eventually sent to the Élan School in Poland, Maine for his behavior issues. Music career Screeching Weasel When Foster returned to Illinois from the Élan School, he got a job at a local movie theater, and formed the band Screeching Weasel with co-worker and former junior high classmate John Pierson, aka Jughead. ''These Ones Are Bitter'' is the second solo-album by American punk rock band Screeching Weasel front man Ben Weasel. It was released in June 2007, and was the first album released for "Mendota Recording Company", Ben Weasel's digital download only record label. On October 23, 2007, it was released physically on CD and vinyl by Edmond Records, and on April 7, 2009, was re-issued by Asian Man Records. The original release was credited to "Ben Weasel And His Iron String Quartet", however the Asian Man cover credits the album just to Ben Weasel. Ben Weasel is implied to be a part of the titular Iron String Quartet, as only three other people were featured on the album: Dan Andriano (of Alkaline Trio), Mike Kennerty, and Chris Gaylor (both of the All-American Rejects). Kennerty is also the album's producer. Dan Schafer (born January 18, 1970), better known by his stage name Dan Vapid, is a punk rock musician from Chicago, Illinois, United States. He is best known for his participation in Screeching Weasel, The Riverdales, The Methadones, and various other punk rock/pop punk bands. His current band is Dan Vapid and the Cheats. Generation Waste Schafer's first band was the hardcore punk band Generation Waste, formed in 1985. They were around for 4 years and recorded one album, which remains unreleased. He was the vocalist and the other band members were Ted Domurat (later of Gear) on guitar, Frank Ciampi (later of Tension Wire, Devastation, Mindfunk) on bass and Dave Juarez on drums. Juarez was later replaced by Pat Buckley (later of Gear, The Vindictives (as "P.J. Parti")).
