The 1st Nebraska Cavalry Regiment was a cavalry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Service The 1st Nebraska Cavalry Regiment was created from the 1st Nebraska Infantry on October 11, 1863. The regiment was commanded by Colonel Robert Ramsay Livingston. Julesburg, Colorado
Julesburg is the statutory town that is the county seat and the most populous municipality of Sedgwick County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,225 at the 2010 United States Census. It is close to the Nebraska border. History The original trading post was named for Jules Beni. Julesburg was on the Pony Express (1860–1861) route from Missouri to California. Jack Slade In 1858, Joseph A. "Jack" Slade, a superintendent for the Central Overland California and Pikes Peak Express Company, was tracking down horse thieves, including Jules Beni. The Mojave River is an intermittent river in the eastern San Bernardino Mountains and the Mojave Desert in San Bernardino County, California, United States. Little Blue River (Kansas/Nebraska)
The Little Blue River is a river in southern Nebraska and northern Kansas in the United States, that was used by Pony Express horseback riders. Ridgelines of this historic watershed defined the wagon train routes first used by Oregon Trail emigrants. Description The Little Blue rises just south of Minden in Kearney County, Nebraska. Medway Station
Medway station was a railroad station in Medway, Massachusetts. It served the West Medway Branch (later the Millis Branch), and opened in 1861. History Medway station was originally part of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad, until the line was cut back to Needham Junction in July 1938. Service to Medway was restored in 1940 when the line was extended to Bellingham Junction, but was shortly thereafter cut back to Caryville, only to be cut back further to West Medway in 1941. By 1955, ridership on the line was remarkably poor, and only a single round trip per day served the station. Only two years after the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority was formed, service to the station was no longer available. The Town of Medway decided to not continue funding the train and the line was subsequently cut back to Millis. Wind River (Wyoming)
The Wind River is the name applied to the upper reaches of the Bighorn River in Wyoming in the United States. The Wind River is long. The two rivers are sometimes referred to as the Wind/Bighorn. Course Its headwaters are at Wind River Lake in the Rocky Mountains, near the summit of Togwotee Pass (pronounced TOH-guh-tee) and gathers water from several forks along the northeast side of the Wind River Range in west central Wyoming. It flows southeastward, across the Wind River Basin and the Wind River Indian Reservation and joins the Little Wind River near Riverton. Up stream from this confluence, it is known locally as the Big Wind River. It flows northward, through a gap in the Owl Creek Mountains, where the name of the river becomes the Bighorn River. Fort Laramie
Fort Laramie (founded as Fort William and known for a while as Fort John) was a significant 19th-century trading-post, diplomatic site, and military installation located at the confluence of the Laramie and the North Platte rivers. They joined in the upper Platte River Valley in the eastern part of the present-day U.S. state of Wyoming. The fort was founded as a private trading-post in the 1830s to service the overland fur-trade; in 1849, it was purchased by the United States Army.
