First Nations Broadcasting Australia
First Nations Broadcasting Australia (officially known as First Nations Broadcasting Australia Ltd and formerly Aboriginal Broadcasting Australia) is an Australian television and radio network, based in Darwin. The network is owned and controlled by Indigenous Australians. The network currently broadcasts eight different television channels, including four radio simulcasts. History and programming First Nations Broadcasting currently airs four open narrowcast stations. They are First Nations TV (stylised as FiRST NATiONS TV), Darwin TV, First Nations Tourism TV (stylised as FiRST NATiONS TOURiSM TV) and Business TV. Business TV replaced Education TV around 2023, while TVNT went off-air around the same time. 720p (720 lines progressive) is a progressive HD signal format with 720 horizontal lines/1280 columns and an aspect ratio (AR) of 16:9, normally known as widescreen HD (1.78:1). All major HD broadcasting standards (such as SMPTE 292M) include a 720p format, which has a resolution of 1280×720. Television broadcasting in Australia began officially on 16 September 1956, with the opening of TCN-9, quickly followed by national and commercial stations in Sydney and Melbourne, all these being in 625-line black and white. First Nations Radio, formerly, Radio Larrakia (call sign: 8KNB), is an Aboriginal Australian community radio station in Darwin, Northern Territory with a broadcast range that reaches Jabiru. The station was established in 1998 by the Larrakia Aboriginal community of Darwin and is managed and controlled by Larrakia Aboriginal traditional owners. Darwin FM
Darwin FM is a dance music station located in Darwin, Northern Territory Australia broadcasting on the frequencies 91.5 MHz, 88 MHz, and online. The first broadcast went to air in 1995 focusing on the club culture of the world. In 2001 a few shows were picked up by the station, and the 5 PM Mix Massive time slot was born. Soon after, in 2008, the increasing number of global dance music radio shows meant there was opportunity to form a new time slot during the day to serve the hours at work.
