First Edition (Australian News TV Program)
''First Edition'', sometimes written as 1st Edition, is an Australian breakfast television news program broadcast by the ABC from 1993 to 1996. It was first launched in February 1993 and featured Doug Weller and Kate Dunstan as hosts. It was withdrawn in May "for refinement" with it being reported that it was suspended until further notice. It returned in September with host Tony Eastley Tony Eastley is an Australian newspaper journalist and radio and television newsreader and host. Tony Eastley
Tony Eastley is an Australian newspaper journalist and radio and television newsreader and host. Journalism career Eastley began his journalism career in the 1970s with ''The Examiner'' newspaper in Launceston, Tasmania before joining the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in 1979. With the ABC he spent stints in Singapore and Hong Kong as a foreign correspondent. After returning to Australia he presented ABC TV's breakfast news, hosting ''First Edition'' from 1993-95. From 2002 to 2003 he was the newsreader of the NSW ABC-TV 7pm news, having taken over from long-standing newsreader Richard Morecroft. In 2004, Eastley took on the role of presenter for '' AM'', the local radio news and current affairs program. In January 2014, Eastley resigned from '' AM'' to become senior presenter on ABC News 24. Kathy Bowlen
Kathy Bowlen is a former Australian journalist and television presenter for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). Career Bowlen was host of the Victorian edition of ABC's '' Stateline'' current affairs program and a presenter with ABC TV News for a decade. She also reported for '' ABC News Victoria'', the nightly current affairs program '' The 7.30 Report'', spent two years as the host of the national breakfast news ''First Edition'' and the international program ''Asia Focus''.
