Firhill Stadium, also known as Wyre Stadium at Firhill for sponsorship reasons, is a Association football, football and former rugby union, rugby league and Greyhound racing in the United Kingdom, greyhound racing stadium located in the Maryhill area of Glasgow, Scotland which has been the home of Partick Thistle F.C., Partick Thistle since 1909. Archibald Keir Leitch (27 April 1865 – 25 April 1939) was a Scottish architect, most famous for his work designing association football, football stadiums throughout Great Britain and Ireland. Early work Born in Glasgow, Leitch's early work was on designing tea factory, factories in Deltota in the former Kingdom of Kandy, Kandyan Kingdom of Ceylon, as well as factories in his home city and in Lanarkshire, the sole surviving example of which being the Listed building, category A listed at Jessie Street, Polmadie, south of Glasgow city centre. Canmore is an online database or index to information on over 320,000 archaeological sites, monuments, and buildings in Scotland. It was launched by the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland in 1997 as the Computer Application for National MOnuments Record Enquiries. Shawfield Stadium
Shawfield Stadium is a venue in the Shawfield district of the town of Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, located close to the boundary with Glasgow. Originally a football ground, Shawfield was home to Clyde F.C. from 1898 to 1986. Greyhound racing was introduced in 1932, and the stadium hosted the Scottish Greyhound Derby from 1970 to 1985 and from 1989 to 2019. The Glasgow Tigers (speedway), Glasgow Tigers speedway team were also based there, from 1988 to 1995 and 1997 to 1998, with the Edinburgh Monarchs, Scottish Monarchs also racing there in 1996. The 1955–56 European Cup was the first season of the European Cup, UEFA's premier club football tournament. It was won by Real Madrid, who defeated Reims 4–3 in the final at Parc des Princes, Paris, on 13 June 1956.
