Fireproof Recording
Fireproof Recording is a recording studio, which became an important part of the indie music scene in New York City. In 1997, Adam Lasus moved to Brooklyn, New York and started the company. Fireproof clients include indie artists Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, PJ Harvey, Clem Snide, Daniel Johnston, Mark Mulcahy, Amy Ray and many others. Fireproof is an analog and digital recording studio relying on vintage 24 track 2 inch multitrack tape machines and 1/2 inch mixdown deck's. Fireproof uses vintage gear manufactured by Neve, Studer, Ampex, Neumann, Vox, Hammond, UREI, ADR, Manley, Focusrite, AKG, Oktava, Neotek and API. Fireproof has a vast collection of vintage guitars, amps and outboard audio compressors. United Recording Electronics Industries (UREI) was a manufacturer of recording, mixing and audio signal processing hardware for the professional recording studio, live sound and broadcasting fields. History Bill Putnam Sr. founded Universal Audio in Chicago in the 1950s as a design and manufacturing addition to his recording studio business, Universal Recording Corporation. Madder Rose
''Rubia'' is the type genus of the Rubiaceae family of flowering plants, which also contains coffee. It contains around 80 species of perennial scrambling or climbing herbs and subshrubs native to the Old World. The genus and its best-known species are commonly known as madder, e.g. ''Rubia tinctorum'' (common madder), ''Rubia peregrina'' (wild madder), and ''Rubia cordifolia'' (Indian madder). Versus (band)
Versus is an American indie rock band formed in 1990 by Richard Baluyut, Fontaine Toups, and Edward Baluyut in New York City, United States. Richard and Fontaine were to remain the two core members throughout the band's history. The band was noted for their marriage of indie pop songwriting and vocal harmonies to the "loud-soft" dynamics of grunge and alternative rock. Juliana Hatfield
Juliana Hatfield (born July 27, 1967) is an American musician and singer-songwriter from the Boston area, formerly of the indie rock bands Blake Babies, Some Girls, and The Lemonheads. She also fronted her own band, The Juliana Hatfield Three, along with bassist Dean Fisher and drummer Todd Philips, which was active in the mid-1990s and again in the mid-2010s. It was with the Juliana Hatfield Three that she produced her best-charting work, including the critically acclaimed albums '' Become What You Are'' (1993) and ''Whatever, My Love'' (2015) and the singles " My Sister" (1993) and "Spin the Bottle" (1994). Matador Records
Matador Records is an independent record label, with a roster of mainly indie rock, but also punk rock, experimental rock, alternative rock, and electronic acts. History Matador was created in 1989 by Chris Lombardi in his New York City apartment. Lombardi had brought the Austrian duo H.P. Zinker into Wharton Tiers’ Fun City studio to record Matador's first release, "...and there was light". Helium (band)
Helium was an American alternative rock band fronted by Mary Timony. The band formed during the summer of 1992. Between 1992 and 1997, they released two full-length albums, three EPs and several singles. History Under the original moniker of "Chupa," the band's founding members were Mary Lou Lord; Jason Hatfield, Juliana Hatfield's brother; Shawn King Devlin; and Brian Dunton. Devlin and Dunton were both also in the band Dumptruck before founding Helium. Mary Timony, formerly of the band Autoclave, replaced Mary Lou Lord on vocals and guitar shortly after formation, as Lord was reluctant to use electric instrumentation. Following Lord's departure, the remaining members changed the band's name to Helium. Timony was known for her husky, vibrato-less and monotone singing style. Yo La Tengo (YLT; Spanish for "I have her") is an American indie rock band formed in Hoboken, New Jersey, in 1984.
