Firebreak Stakes
The Firebreak Stakes, is a horse race, for horses aged four and over, run over a distance of 1,600 metres (one mile) on dirt in February at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai. The race is named in honour of the racehorse Firebreak, who won the Hong Kong Mile for Godolphin in 2004. The Firebreak Stakes was first contested in 2011 as a Listed race and was elevated to Group 3 level a year later. It was run on a synthetic Tapeta surface before moving to dirt in 2015. Meydan Racecourse
Meydan Racecourse is a racecourse in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The grandstand is over a mile in length, and can accommodate over 60,000 spectators. Meydan opened on 27 March 2010, replacing Nad Al Sheba Racecourse, which formerly occupied the same site. It includes a horse racing museum, gallery and five-star hotel and nine-hole golf course. When not in use for racing it serves as a business and conference centre. The track's interior was also used as a filming location for the film '' Star Trek Beyond'', depicting the docking bay where the USS ''Enterprise'' is moored, including the bar scene during the film's climax which contains a ship construction bay. Silvestre de Sousa (born 31 December 1980 in São Francisco do Maranhão, Brazil) is a Brazilian flat racing jockey based in Britain. He was champion jockey of Britain in 2015, with 132 winners, and again in 2017 and 2018. Childhood and early career He was born in São Francisco do Maranhão, Maranhão. He moved to São Paulo when he was 17 years old. The youngest of ten siblings, de Sousa was 18 before he sat on a racehorse for the first time. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (; born 14 November 1982) has been Crown Prince of Dubai since 2008. He previously served as Deputy Ruler of Dubai from 2006 to 2008. Jim Crowley is a flat jockey riding in Great Britain and was British flat racing Champion Jockey in 2016. History Jim Crowley (Born 14 July 1978) comes from Ascot and after beginning his horse racing career as an amateur flat race jockey he switched to National Hunt racing, riding for the stable of Sue Smith. Kiaran P. McLaughlin (born November 15, 1960, in Lexington, Kentucky) is an American Thoroughbred racehorse trainer best known for training 2006 Horse of the Year Invasor. Background McLaughlin was born in an area of the country where horse racing and breeding is preeminent. One of his childhood friends was the son of trainer James Burchell and his first job was as a hotwalker. He was a student at the University of Kentucky for a year before he decided focus on pursuing a career in the Thoroughbred horse racing industry. He spent close to three years as an assistant for various trainers before going to work for U.S. Racing Hall of Fame trainer, D. Wayne Lukas in 1985. William Buick
William Buick (born 22 July 1988) is a Norwegian-British flat jockey. He shared the champion apprentice jockey title in 2008 with David Probert and won the Lester Award for Apprentice Jockey of the Year in 2007 and 2008. Variety Club (foaled 8 September 2008) is a South African Thoroughbred racehorse. Racing in his native country, the horse won numerous major races including the Cape Guineas, thQueen's Plateand two editions of the Rising Sun Gold Challenge.
