Finn Sejersted
alt=portrait of man facing left, Finn Sejersted, around 1898. Finn Sejersted (3 August 1868 – 22 January 1914) was a Norwegian director and railway engineer. He was born in Trondheim, Nord-Trøndelag in 1868, and studied at Trondhjems tekniske Skole ("Trondheim School of Technology") between 1887 and 1890. After he finished studying, he was hired by the Norwegian State Railways, where he worked as an installation director of the Solør, Sætesdal and Gjøvik Lines. In 1897, Sejersted became managing director of Holmenkolbanen, at an age of 29 years. He succeeded Albert Fenger-Krog, and was the acting director when Holmenkolbanen opened the Holmenkoll Line in 1898. Following the 1912 Valkyrie plass tunnel collapse, Sejersted became depressed of the criticism he received, and died aged 46, on 22 January 1914. Holmenkoll Line
The Holmenkollen Line ( no, Holmenkollbanen) is an Oslo Metro line which runs between Majorstuen and Nordmarka in Oslo, Norway. Operating as Metro Line 1, it is the route with the fewest passengers and the only one still to have level crossings and short station platforms. The line runs mostly through residential areas of detached houses, and the upper parts of the line principally serve the recreational area of Nordmarka. Holmenkollen Station is located close to Holmenkollen National Arena which hosts international Nordic skiing tournaments. Voksenkollen Station is not far from Oslo Vinterpark (Winter) and the Oslo Sommerpark (Summer). The line is the oldest one on the metro system, having been opened as a light railway in 1898 by the Holmenkolbanen company. Originally it ran for from Majorstuen Station to Besserud. Holmenkolbanen People
A/S Holmenkolbanen was a company that owned and operated part of the Oslo Tramway and Oslo Metro in Norway from 1898 until 1975 when services were taken over by the majority owner Oslo Sporveier. Holmenkolbanen opened the Holmenkoll Line in 1898, and expanded it to become the first Nordic underground railway in 1928. The company took over operations of the Smestad Line in 1933, the Sognsvann Line in 1934. The company was merged into Oslo Sporveier in 1992. History The company was founded on 17 February 1896 by H. Vygruppen, branded as Vy, is a government-owned railway company which operates most passenger train services and many bus services in Norway. The company is owned by the Norwegian Ministry of Transport. Its sub-brands include Vy Buss coach services, CargoNet freight trains and the Swedish train transport company Tågkompaniet. In 2009, NSB carried 52 million train passengers and 104 million bus passengers. On 24 April 2019, passenger train and bus services were rebranded as Vy. The company was established as the Norwegian State Railways (1883–1996). In 1996 the company was split into the new NSB, the infrastructure company, the Norwegian National Rail Administration and the Norwegian Railway Inspectorate. Tobias Bernhoft
Tobias Brodtkorp Bernhoft (5 December 1869 – 20 August 1936) was a Norwegian engineer and director. He was born on 5 December 1869 to Tobias Bernhoft senior (1841-1872) and his wife Thora (1848-1910) at Strinda. He married Marie Holmboe on 30 September 1896, with whom he had four children. Among them was the famous singer Bias Bernhoft. Bernhoft studied at Kristiania tekniske skole ("Kristiania School of Technics") from 1889 to 1891. In the same year as he left the school, Bernhoft was hired by the Norwegian State Railways. He became the engineer of the constructions of the Gjøvik, Bergen, Roa-Hønefoss, Rauma and Solør Lines. In 1911, Bernhoft was appointed chief engineer of the Dovre Line. Bernhoft became the managing director of Holmenkolbanen in 1914, succeeding Finn Sejersted.
