Finley Football Club
The Finley Football Club, nicknamed the ''Cats'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based in the town of Finley, New South Wales, Finley located in the Riverina district of New South Wales, Australia, New South Wales. The club's football and netball teams currently play in the playing in the Murray Football League, Murray FNL, which Finley joined in 1933. History Earliest mentions of the club in the local press appear in 1894 with its early success against the Berrigan Football Club. The club held an Annual General Meeting in 1895 and entered the Murray Border Football Association, then in 1899 joined the Federal District Football Association . Murray Football League
The Murray Football Netball League is an Australian rules football and netball league affiliated with the Victorian Country Football League. The league covers a large area of northern Victoria and southern New South Wales from Shepparton in the south to Deniliquin in the north. It covers much the same area as the Picola & District Football League but the teams tend to be the larger communities and towns. History The "Murray Football League" (MFL) was established in 1931, when it superseded the old Goulburn Valley Football Association, with the following clubs, Barooga, Cobram, Numurkah, Strathmerton and Tocumwal. Darren Jackson (Australian Footballer)
Darren Jackson (born 7 December 1961) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL). A full-forward from Finley, Jackson came to Geelong after winning the Murray Football League's leading goal-kicker award in 1983. He made two senior appearances for Geelong in the 1984 VFL season, against Collingwood at Kardinia Park in round seven and Essendon at Waverley Park in round eight. Jackson went on to have a long and decorated career at Finley, being the Murray Football League leading-kicker a further three times, in 1986, 1989 and 1997. Mark Whiley (born 1 December 1992) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Greater Western Sydney Giants and Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally from Finley in the Riverina region of New South Wales, he played for the Murray Bushrangers in the TAC Cup prior to being recruited prior to the 2010 AFL Draft as one of the new GWS club's NSW zone selections. Whiley made his AFL debut in Round 12 of the 2012 AFL season against , as a late replacement for Nick Haynes. In October 2014, he was traded to the Carlton Football Club. Damian Sexton (born 3 December 1968) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for St Kilda in the Australian Football League (AFL) in 1990. He was recruited from the Yarrawonga Football Club in the Ovens & Murray Football League (OMFL) with the 23rd selection in the 1990 Mid-year Draft. He is the cousin of Michael and Ben Sexton, who both also played in the AFL. His father, Gerry played for Footscray in the Victorian Football League. The almost 45-year gap between Gerry's last game and Damian's first game is the longest ever in the league for a father and son. Robb Hawkins (born 10 October 1957) is a former Australian rules footballer, playing with Geelong Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and South Adelaide Football Club in the South Australian National Football League.
