Film Look
Film look (also known as filmizing or film-look) is a process in which video is altered in overall appearance to appear to have been shot on film stock. The process is usually electronic, although filmizing can sometimes occur as an unintentional by-product of some optical techniques, such as telerecording. The process has the opposite result to VidFIRE, used to restore a video look to telerecorded video. Film Gate
The film gate is the rectangular opening in the front of a motion picture camera where the film is exposed to light (or an opening for showing the film with a projector). The film gate holds the film during exposure through the aperture formed by the shutter. The film gate can be seen by removing the lens and rotating the shutter out of the way. The film is held on a uniform plane at a calibrated distance in the gate by a pressure plate behind the film. Occasionally, as the film passes through the gate, friction can cause small slivers of celluloid to break off and stick in the side of the opening, or a speck of dust can lodge there. These pieces of debris are called ''hairs''. A "hair in the gate" will remain in front of the film and create a dark line that sticks into the edge of the film frame as the camera is filming a shot. Interlaced video (also known as interlaced scan) is a technique for doubling the perceived frame rate of a video display without consuming extra Bandwidth (signal processing), bandwidth. Deinterlacing
Deinterlacing is the process of converting interlaced video into a non-interlaced or Progressive scan, progressive form. Interlaced video signals are commonly found in analog television, VHS, Laserdisc, digital television (HDTV) when in the 1080i format, some DVD titles, and a smaller number of Blu-ray discs. An interlaced video frame consists of two Field (video), fields taken in sequence: the first containing all the odd lines of the image, and the second all the even lines. PAL-M
PAL-M was the analog color TV system used in Brazil since early 1972, making it the first South American country to broadcast in color. NTSC
NTSC (from National Television System Committee) is the first American standard for analog television, published and adopted in 1941. In 1961, it was assigned the designation System M.
