Filippos Tigkas
Filippos Tigkas (born 5 November 2002) is a Cypriot-Greek professional basketball player who plays as a point guard for Cypriot League club Keravnos and the Cyprus national team. Early career Tigkas started playing basketball with Apollon Limassol in Cyprus. At the age of 16, he was transferred to AEK Athens of the Greek League, where he played with the junior team of the club. He also took several practices with AEK Athens men's team. The OPAP Basket League is currently the top-tier level men's professional basketball competition of the Cypriot basketball league system. It is run and governed by the Cyprus Basketball Federation. Format All teams are playing against each other for the first part of the league, with the top 4 teams reaching the play-off semi-finals stage. One team (the last one) at the end of the season is relegated to the second division, whilst one team from the second division is promoted. The play-off semi-finals and the championship winner will be decided after three wins. The Cypriot Basketball Cup is an annual professional basketball national cup competition, organized by the Cyprus Basketball Federation since 1969. Format Starting in 2007, the Cypriot Cup competition's format changed to where only teams from the Cypriot A Division compete at the cup. The cup employs a knock-out stage and a final four format. The Cypriot Basketball Super Cup is a men's professional basketball competition in Cyprus, organized by the Cyprus Basketball Federation. It is contested by the champion of the Cypriot First Division and the winner of the Cypriot Cup. History The first Cypriot Super Cup match was played in 1985, with AEL winning the trophy, after beating ENAD 78–75. From 195 until 1994, the competition was held under the name "Independence Shield", but in the following years it was called, the "Federation Cup". The Cyprus men's national basketball team () represents Cyprus in international basketball, and is controlled by the Cyprus Basketball Federation.
