The National Film Department of Malaysia (), abbreviated FNM, sometimes ''Jabatan Filem Negara'' (JFN) or informally the Malaysian Film Unit; was a Malaysian film production house and the government department under the Malaysian Ministry of Communications and Multimedia. It is responsible for the filming and documentation of national events as well as producing factual and unscripted narrative contents. The film department, which headquartered at Petaling Jaya, Selangor, uses a jumping Malayan tiger as its logo. Among the main functions of FNM was to spread the information about the policy, programme and achievement of the government and to promote the country through the films produced. Other than that, FNM was tasked to produce and supply high quality documentary films, public service announcement (PSA) and trailers to its clients. ''The Singapore Free Press'' was an English-language daily broadsheet newspaper based in Singapore. History The paper was founded on 1 October 1835 as the ''Singapore Free Press & Mercantile Advertiser'' in response to the sale of '' The Singapore Chronicle'' from William Renshaw George to James Fairlie Carnegy. It is "not clear" who all of its founders were. William Napier and Edward Boustead are known to have been founders while John Henry Moor, formerly the editor of the ''Chronicle'', was the founding editor. Charles Burton Buckley named Napier, Boustead, merchant Walter Scott Lorrain and Superintendent of Public Works George Drumgoole Coleman as founders. Rais bin Yatim ( Jawi: رئيس بن يتيم; born 16 April 1942) is a Malaysian politician and lawyer who served as the 18th President of the Dewan Negara from September 2020 to June 2023, 8th Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan from 1978 to 1982 and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Jelebu from November 1999 to May 2013. He was a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), the leading party in previous ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, except for a period in the 1990s when he became a member of the opposition Parti Melayu Semangat 46 (S46). Yang Berbahagia Datuk Md. Yusof bin Md. Haslam Khan (born 24 April 1954) is a Malaysian actor, film director and producer. He is best known for his longest-running police procedural drama series '' Gerak Khas'', a TV series that he created, directed and produced, that then led to the production of three feature films. New Straits Times
The ''New Straits Times'' is an English-language newspaper published in Malaysia. It is Malaysia's oldest newspaper still in print (though not the first), having been founded as a local offshoot of Singapore-based ''The Straits Times'' on 15 July 1845. It was renamed as the ''New Straits Times'' on 13 August 1974. The paper served as Malaysia's only broadsheet format English-language newspaper; however, following the example of British newspapers ''The Times'' and ''The Independent'', a tabloid version first rolled off the presses on 1 September 2004 and since 18 April 2005, the newspaper has been published only in tabloid size, ending a 160-year-old tradition of broadsheet publication. A newsreel is a form of short documentary film, containing news, news stories and items of topical interest, that was prevalent between the 1910s and the mid 1970s.
