Fifth Settlement
The Fifth Settlement (, literally means "the Fifth Gathering"; commonly shortened to: ' ) forms a qism (also known as ''Al-Qahira al-Gadida Awwal'', New Cairo 1 police ward) in the New Cairo satellite city, in the Eastern Area of Cairo Governorate, Egypt. The Fifth Settlement was originally one of five standalone human settlements (satellite cities) built by the New Urban Communities Authority in the 1980s in the desert east of the Cairo Ring Road to absorb the working class population growth. In the year 2000, the Fifth Settlement, along with the nearby First and Third Settlements, were incorporated as New Cairo. New Cairo
New Cairo ( ') is a satellite city within the Cairo governorate of Egypt, and the metropolitan area of Greater Cairo. Administratively, it is officially part of the Eastern Area of Cairo city, but like all new settlements in Egypt, it is directly governed by the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA). The city was established in 2000 as part of Egypt's strategic effort to alleviate the chronic congestion of Greater Cairo by decentralizing population and economic activity. The city is made up of a mix of residential neighbourhoods, commercial centers, and institutional zones. Habib El-Adly
Habib Ibrahim El-Adly (, ; born 1 March 1938) is a former Egyptian politician. He served as interior minister of Egypt from November 1997 to January 2011. He was the longest serving interior minister under President Hosni Mubarak. Following the 2011 Egyptian revolution, Adly was convicted of corruption and conspiring to kill protestors and was sentenced to life in prison. This conviction was later dropped. Early life and education El-Adly was born in 1938. He graduated from the police academy in 1959. Career In 1965, Adly joined the State Security Investigations Service. After working at various investigation departments, he was employed at the foreign ministry from 1982 to 1984. Greater Cairo
The Greater Cairo () is a metropolitan area centered around Cairo, Egypt. It comprises the entirety of the Cairo Governorate, the cities of Imbaba and Giza in the Giza Governorate, and the city Shubra El Kheima in Qalyubia Governorate. Its definition can be expanded to include peri-urban areas and a number of new planned towns founded in the desert areas east and west of Cairo. El Shorouk
El-Shorouk ( , "the Sunrise") is a satellite city in the Eastern Area of Cairo, Egypt, also spelt Elshorouk. As a "new city" it is administered by the New Urban Communities Authority (NUCA). Shorouk is one of the so-called third generation new cities, established by presidential decree 325/1995, allocating of public land to NUCA, in addition to further allocations totalling by 2017. Al Rehab ( , literal meaning: "City of Spaciousness") is a district of New Cairo and a part of Greater Cairo, in the Cairo Governorate, Egypt. It is a private city built by the Talaat Moustafa Group. Satellite City
