"Fiend" is a song by Coal Chamber Coal Chamber is an American nu metal band formed by Dez Fafara and Meegs Rascón in Los Angeles, California in 1993. Coal Chamber is an American nu metal band formed by Dez Fafara and Meegs Rascón in Los Angeles, California in 1993. Prior to Coal Chamber, the two had also created the band She's in Pain, in 1992. The original lineup also consisted of bassist Rayna Foss and drummer Jon Tor. Mike Cox replaced Tor on drums shortly afterwards, and thus the Coal Chamber lineup was complete. After signing to Roadrunner Records, they released their debut album, '' Coal Chamber'', in 1997. ''Chamber Music'' followed two years later and featured the band's only charting single in the US, " Shock the Monkey". Their third album, '' Dark Days'', was released in the spring of 2002. Nadja Peulen temporarily replaced Foss on bass for touring commitments, before joining on a permanent basis in 2002. ''Dark Days'' is the third studio album by the American nu metal band Coal Chamber. It was released on May 7, 2002. Background and content Bassist Rayna Foss-Rose left the band after this album was recorded; she was replaced by Nadja Peulen, who had already previously replaced her for Coal Chamber's tours in 1999 during Rayna's pregnancy. This was the last studio album from Coal Chamber before they disbanded due to personal differences. ''Dark Days'' is often regarded as the band's most aggressive and heaviest album; while past Coal Chamber albums had softer songs scattered throughout them, ''Dark Days'' stays mostly aggressive all the way through. Bradley James "Dez" Fafara (born May 12, 1966) is an American heavy metal vocalist who performs in the bands DevilDriver and Coal Chamber. Early life Fafara is of Portuguese and Sicilian descent. His father, Tiger Fafara, and his late uncle, Stanley Fafara, were child actors on the '' Leave It to Beaver'' television sitcom. He has had attention deficit hyperactivity disorder his whole life. Fafara adopted the nickname "Dez" in honor of Dez Cadena, vocalist and guitarist for Black Flag and an early influence on Fafara. Career Coal Chamber Fafara released a total of 5 albums with Coal Chamber. Four of the albums, ''Coal Chamber'' (1997), which went gold, ''Chamber Music'' (1999), and '' Dark Days'' (2002), consisted of new material. "Shock the Monkey" is a song by English rock musician Peter Gabriel. It was released in September 1982 as the second single from his fourth self-titled album, issued in the US under the title ''Security''. The song peaked at number 29 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart and number one on the ''Billboard'' Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The song was Gabriel's first Top 40 hit in the US. In the UK, the song charted at number 58. According to AllMusic, the song has a "relentlessly repeated hook" that "sounded nothing like anything else on the radio at the time".
