Genera
Genus ( plural genera ) is a taxonomic rank used in the biological classification of living and fossil organisms as well as viruses. In the hierarchy of biological classification, genus comes above species and below family. In binomial nomenclature, the genus name forms the first part of the binomial species name for each species within the genus. :E.g. '' Panthera leo'' (lion) and '' Panthera onca'' (jaguar) are two species within the genus ''Panthera''. ''Panthera'' is a genus within the family Felidae. The composition of a genus is determined by taxonomists. The standards for genus classification are not strictly codified, so different authorities often produce different classifications for genera. There are some general practices used, however, including the idea that a newly defined genus should fulfill these three criteria to be descriptively useful: # monophyly – all descendants of an ancestral taxon are grouped together (i.e. phylogenetic analysis should ...

Fieldia (plant)
''Fieldia'' is a genus of flowering plants in the family Gesneriaceae, native to New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria in Australia. It has at times been treated as monotypic, with one species, ''F. australis''. Two are accepted by sources that include ''Lenbrassia'' in ''Fieldia''. Species , the genus contains two accepted species: *'' Fieldia australiana'' (C.T.White) B.L.Burtt, synonym A synonym is a word, morpheme, or phrase that means exactly or nearly the same as another word, morpheme, or phrase in a given language. For example, in the English language, the words ''begin'', ''start'', ''commence'', and ''initiate'' are al ... ''Lenbrassia australiana'' *'' Fieldia australis'' A.Cunn. Fieldia Australis
''Fieldia australis'', usually referred to as fieldia, is a small climbing plant or epiphyte found in eastern Australia, Australian rainforests. Commonly seen in the cooler rainforests at higher altitudes. It also grows in the warmer rainforests with a high humidity. The plant uses adventitious roots to grip hold of tree trunks, mossy rocks or tree ferns. Leaves are 3 to 7 cm long 1 to 3 cm wide, reverse ovate or elliptical in shape with toothed edges. The leaf stem is around 8 mm long. Flowering occurs mostly in summer or autumn, being an attractive, relatively long thin white flower. The fruit is a whitish berry with some purple markings. Egg-shaped or oblong, 1 to 3 cm long, and around 11 mm in diameter. Taxonomy ''Fieldia australis'' was originally described and placed in its own genus ''Fieldia (plant), Fieldia'' by botanist Allan Cunningham (botanist), Allan Cunningham in 1825. The name ''Fieldia'' honours Barron Field (author), Barron Field (1786 ...

''Vandopsis'', abbreviated as Vdps in horticultural trade, is a genus of orchids in the family Orchidaceae. It contains ca. 5 species found in Southeast Asia, Southern China, the Philippines, and New Guinea New Guinea (; Hiri Motu: ''Niu Gini''; id, Papua, or , historically ) is the world's second-largest island with an area of . Calycopis
''Calycopis'' is a genus of butterflies in the family Lycaenidae. Massively split up by Kurt Johnson in 1991, most modern authors consider the changes proposed at that time to be unjustified. Most of the species of this genus are found in the Neotropical realm and others in the Nearctic realm. Species In biology, a species is the basic unit of Taxonomy (biology), classification and a taxonomic rank of an organism, as well as a unit of biodiversity. A species is often defined as the largest group of organisms in which any two individuals of ... include: * '' Calycopis cecrops'' Fabricius, 1793 – red-banded hairstreak * '' Calycopis isobeon'' Butler & H. Vanessa (butterfly)
''Vanessa'' is a genus of brush-footed butterflies in the tribe Nymphalini. It has a near-global distribution and includes conspicuous species such as the red admirals (e.g., red admiral, Indian red admiral, New Zealand red admiral), the Kamehameha, and the painted ladies of the '' Cynthia'' group (formerly a subgenus): Painted lady, American painted lady, West Coast lady, Australian painted lady, etc. For African admirals, see genus ''Antanartia''. Recently, several members traditionally considered to be in the genus ''Antanartia'' have been determined to belong within the genus ''Vanessa''. The name of the genus may have been taken from the character Vanessa in Jonathan Swift's poem " Cadenus and Vanessa," which is the source of the woman's name Vanessa. In the poem Vanessa is called a "nymph" eleven times, and the genus is closely related to the previously-named genus Nymphalis. Though the name has been suggested to be a variant of "Phanessa", from the name of an Anc ...
