Ferry Wharf
Bhaucha Dhakka (also called as Ferry Wharf) is a wharf along the Thane Creek, along the coast of Dockyard Road on the Eastern seafront of Mumbai, the capital of the Indian state of Maharashtra. The wharf serves as the port for numerous fishermen who bring in their daily catch. Ferry services link up JNPT, Uran to the east, and Rewas and Mandwa, Maharashtra, Mandwa to the south. The wharf is used by the students of the ''Training Ship Rahaman ''which is an institute for maritime studies on the island of Nhava. The wharf is serviced by Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport, BEST buses and till the late 1980s also used to be the port of call for the Mumbai-Goa ferry services. The nearest railway station is Dockyard Road on Harbour Line services of Central Railway. Local trains towards Bandra, Andheri, Vashi, Belapur, Panvel halt at this station. Thane Creek
Thane Creek, previously Thana Creek, is an estuary of the Arabian Sea and one of the two main distributaries of the Ulhas River, in Konkan division of Maharashtra, India. The Ulhas splits at the northeast corner of Salsette island into its two main distributaries, the other one being the Vasai Creek, both of which empty into the Arabian Sea. The creek forms the eastern boundary of Salsette island and separates the island from mainland of Konkan. It gets its name from the city of Thane, previously Thana, located on eastern banks of the creek. The region of the Thane Creek has been recognized as an Important Bird Area by the Bombay Natural History Society, as it is home to various avian species. JNPT
Jawaharlal Nehru Port, also known as JNPT and Nhava Sheva Port, is the second largest container port in India after Mundra Port. Operated by the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust Authority (JNPTA), it is located on the eastern shores of Arabian Sea in Navi Mumbai, Raigad district, Maharashtra. This port can be accessed via Thane Creek, a nodal city of Navi Mumbai. It is the main port of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region after Mumbai Port, also of Maharashtra and Western India. Uran is a coastal town in Raigad District's Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra state in Konkan division. It lies to the east of Mumbai across the Dharamtar Creek. Rewas Port (Rewas-Bodani or Revas) is one of 48 “minor” ports of Maharashtra located at Rewas Creek, near Karanja creek at mouth of the Patalganga River about southward of Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) and south-east of Mumbai Port. It is controlled by the state government through an agency known as the “Maharashtra Maritime Board”. Brihanmumbai Electric Supply And Transport
The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) is an Indian civic transport and electricity provider public body based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It was originally set up in 1873 as a tramway company called Bombay Tramway Company Limited. The enterprise set up a Captive power plant, captive thermal power station at Wadi Bunder in 1905 to generate electricity for its trams, which positioned it to also supply electricity to the city. It then re-branded to Bombay Electric Supply & Tramways Company (BEST). In 1926, BEST began operating motor buses.
