Fernando Méndez-Leite
Fernando Méndez-Leite Serrano (born 6 May 1944) is a Spanish film critic, lecturer and filmmaker. He has also worked in theatre and television. He became the president of the Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences of Spain in 2022. Biography Fernando Méndez-Leite Serrano was born in Madrid on 6 May 1944, son to , a falangist film writer, author of a ''History of the Spanish Cinema''. He studied filmmaking at the for two years after graduating in law from the University of Madrid in 1968. He has been active as a film critic since 1966, writing for publications such as ', ''Diario 16'', ''Fotogramas'' and ''Guía del Ocio de Madrid'', and, from 1968 to 1981, as a lecturer on Film Theory and History of Contemporary Cinema at the University of Valladolid. Málaga Film Festival
The Málaga Festival, formerly Málaga Spanish Film Festival (FMCE), is an annual film festival held in Málaga, Andalusia, Spain. The festival was established to promote Spanish cinema and help disseminate information about Spanish films. Since 2017, it features an additional focus on Ibero-American films. In 2024, it became a FIAPF-accredited film festival, as a competitive film festival specialized in Spanish-language cinema. History The first edition ran from 29 May to 6 June 1998. The Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (; ICAA) is a Spanish government agency, charged with the planning of policies to support the film industry and audiovisual production. It depends on the Ministry of Culture. It is a member of the European Film Promotion (EFP) network on behalf of Spain. History Through the Law 50/1984 of 30 December 1984, the ICAA was created in 1985. In 1986, Fernando Méndez-Leite replaced Pilar Miró at the helm of the ICAA.
