Fergus O'Brien
Fergus O'Brien (30 March 1930 – 19 October 2016) was an Irish Fine Gael politician who served as Government Chief Whip and Minister of State at the Department of Defence from 1981 to 1982 and 1986 to 1987 and Lord Mayor of Dublin from 1980 to 1981. He served as a Teachta Dála (TD) from 1973 to 1982 and 1982 to 1992. O'Brien was born in Dublin in 1930. He was educated at the College of Technology, Bolton Street, before becoming involved in politics. O'Brien was elected to Dáil Éireann on his second attempt at the 1973 general election as a Fine Gael TD for the Dublin South-East constituency. After boundary changes, he was re-elected at the 1977 general election for Dublin South-Central and held the seat at the 1981 general election, but was defeated at the February 1982 general election. A Minister of State () in Republic of Ireland, Ireland (also called a junior minister) is of non-cabinet rank attached to one or more Department of State (Ireland), Departments of State of the Government of Ireland and assists the Minister of the Government responsible for that department. The government may appoint up to 23 ministers of state. Rory O'Hanlon (born 7 February 1934) is an Irish former Fianna Fáil politician who served as Ceann Comhairle of Dáil Éireann from 2002 to 2007, Leas-Cheann Comhairle of Dáil Éireann from 1997 to 2002, Minister for the Environment from 1991 to 1992, Minister for Health from 1987 to 1991 and Minister of State for Social Welfare Claims in 1982. John Donnellan
John F. Donnellan (born 27 March 1937) is an Irish former politician and sportsman. He served as a Fine Gael Teachta Dála (TD) for twenty-five years and as a Minister of State from 1982 to 1987. He played Gaelic football for his local club Dunmore McHales and at senior level for the Galway county team in the 1960s. Donal John Creed (7 September 1924 – 23 November 2017) was an Irish Fine Gael politician who served as a Minister of State from June 1981 to February 1982 and from December 1982 to February 1986. Gerard C. Connolly (16 April 1937 – 25 January 2024) was an Irish Fianna Fáil politician. The 1981 Irish general election to the 22nd Dáil was held on Thursday, 11 June, following the Dissolution of Parliament, dissolution of the 21st Dáil on 21 May by President of Ireland, President Patrick Hillery on the request of Taoiseach Charles Haughey.
