Fen McDonald
Fenley John "Fen" McDonald (25 May 1891 – 25 April 1915) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Carlton and Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). He was a member of the First AIF, and was killed in action during the landing at Anzac Cove, Gallipoli, in Ottoman Turkey on 25 April 1915. Family The youngest son in the family (of three girls and five boys) of Patrick McDonald (1852-1928), and Margaret McDonald (1853-1928), née Figgins, Fenley John McDonald was born on 25 May 1891 in Nagambie, Victoria. By all accounts, he was a strongly built, quietly spoken, and well-mannered young man. Nagambie is a town in the Goulburn Valley region of Victoria, Australia. The city is on the Goulburn Valley Freeway north of Seymour and in the Shire of Strathbogie. Edwin Patrick "Ted" McDonald (29 September 1875 – 17 March 1919) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Family Parents He was born on 29 September 1875 in Nagambie, Victoria. He was the son of Patrick McDonald (1852–1928) and Margaret McDonald (1853–1928), née Figgins. Siblings He was one of five boys and three girls. Two of his brothers also played VFL football: Arch McDonald with Essendon, and Fen McDonald with both Carlton and Melbourne.
