Felsőszölnök
Felsőszölnök ( . ) is a village in Vas County, Hungary. It is the westernmost point of Hungary, and lies on the borders with Slovenia and Austria. It is closer to the capitals of four countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Austria, and Slovakia) than it is to Budapest, its own country. Location The nearest settlements are Oberdrosen in Jennersdorf, Burgenland to the northwest, and Neradnovci in the Municipality of Gornji Petrovci, Slovenia to the south. Culture The Alliance of Hungarian Slovenes has its seat in Felsőszölnök, there is a preschool with education in Slovene, and Slovene is taught in the primary school. The Martinje-Felsőszölnök border crossing between Hungary and Slovenia was opened in 1992, resulting in more frequent contacts between the districts in the neighbouring countries. József Kossics
József Kossics, also known in Slovene as Jožef Košič (around October 9, 1788, Bogojina, Austria-Hungary – December 26, 1867, Felsőszölnök), was a Hungarian-Slovenian writer, Catholic priest, ethnologist, linguist and historian. Kossics was born in Bogojina, Moravske Toplice, then part of the Kingdom of Hungary, now in Slovenia. His father József Kossics was a teacher born in Varaždin and his mother Ana Kregar was from a petty noble family. Kossics served as a priest in the first half of the 19th century in Alsószölnök and later in Felsőszölnök (1829–1867) in Vas country. He was also a poet, linguist, historian, and ethnologist. He was a subscriber to the early Hungarian scholarly journal ''Tudományos gyűjtemény'' (Scientific Collection, 1817–1841). In 1828, his monograph on the Hungarian Slovenes appeared in this journal, earning him respect in ethnological circles. István Pintér
István Pintér () ( January 25, 1831 – December 11, 1875) was a Hungarian Slovene writer and court in Felsőszölnök. He was born and lived in the Jánoshegy (locally: ''Janošovi brejg''), near Felsőszölnök. His parents were István Pintér and Mária Bajzék. About 1864, he wrote his cantor-book. This hymnal contains religious folk songs in the Prekmurje Slovene. The oldest hymn is ''Krisztus nam je od szmrti sztao'' (Christ Is Risen from the Dead) from the manuscript of Stična Monastery in Styria. Kuzma (Slovenia)
Kuzma () is a settlement in the Municipality of Kuzma in the Prekmurje region in northeastern Slovenia, on the borders with Austria and Hungary. Name Kuzma was attested in written sources in 1387 as ''Zalocha'' and ''Zaloucha'', and as ''Kuzma'' in 1763–87. The name ''Kuzma'' is derived from the Slovene saint's name ''Kozma'' 'Cosmas'.
