The Felicity and Future Alliance (SGİ; ) was a Turkish political alliance between the Felicity Party (SP) and the Future Party (GP) established on 6 July 2023, which includes the establishment of a joint group in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) and cooperation in the elections. Background 2023 election Before the 2023 parliamentary election, the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) amended the electoral system so that the distribution of parliamentary deputies would be made by the individual votes of the parties instead of the total votes of the alliances. As a result of this change, it was prevented that the parties that could not get a deputy alone could unite under the roof of the alliance and get a deputy. The Nationalist Movement Party, or alternatively translated as Nationalist Action Party (, MHP), is a Turkish Far-right politics, far-right, ultranationalism, ultranationalist Political parties in Turkey, political party. Akbelen Forest
Akbelen Forest is a woodland in the Muğla Province of Turkey, located near İkizköy village. In July 2023, most of the forest was cut down by YK Energy to make way for expansion of İkizköy lignite mine, which supplies the nearby Yeniköy power station. The deforestation attracted protests in July 2023. The protests were met with a police response and Mass media in Turkey, national media attention. Sixty percent of the forest had been destroyed by August. A presidential decree to expropriate over 2000 hectares of land for mining was granted in March 2024, but cancelled the same month. In July 2025 the government legislated that mining companies will not have to wait for EIA approval from the ministry before extending the mine. 2023 Turkey–Syria Earthquakes
On 6 February 2023, at 04:17 Time in Turkey, TRT (01:17 Coordinated Universal Time, UTC), a  7.8 earthquake struck southern and central Turkey and northern and western Ba'athist Syria, Syria. The epicenter was west–northwest of Gaziantep. The earthquake had a maximum Modified Mercalli intensity scale, Mercalli intensity of XII (''Extreme'') around the epicenter and in Antakya. It was followed by a 7.7 earthquake at 13:24. This earthquake was centered north-northeast from the first. There was widespread damage and tens of thousands of fatalities.
