Felicity Jane Curran Underhill is a New Zealand energy specialist, and has experience working in the oil, gas and hydrogen industries in Australia and New Zealand. In 2024 Underhill was appointed to the New Zealand Climate Change Commission. Education Underhill is Māori, and affiliates to Ngāti Raukawa. Underhill has a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Victoria University of Wellington and a Master of Arts degree in internal relations and conflict resolution from the Brussels School of International Studies at the University of Kent. Climate Change Commission
The Climate Change Commission () is an independent Crown entity that advises the New Zealand Government on climate change policy and monitors the government's progress towards New Zealand's emission reduction goals within the framework of the Climate Change Response (Zero Carbon) Amendment Act . Patsy Reddy
Dame Patricia Lee Reddy (born 17 May 1954) is a New Zealand lawyer and businesswoman who served as the 21st governor-general of New Zealand from 2016 to 2021. Before becoming governor-general, Reddy was a partner of a law firm, headed a major review of intelligence agencies, held multiple directorships, chaired the New Zealand Film Commission and worked as a chief negotiator on Treaty of Waitangi settlements. Marsden Point Oil Refinery
Marsden Point Oil Refinery was an oil refinery located at Marsden Point, Whangārei, Northland, New Zealand, which operated from 1964 to 2022. It was the only significant oil refinery in New Zealand, and was owned and operated by the New Zealand Refining Company (later Refining NZ, then Channel Infrastructure), a consortium of oil companies. The refinery was shut down in 2022 and dismantled. The point was named after Samuel Marsden. The regional survey map shows it was called Marsden Point in 1907. Green hydrogen (GH2 or GH2) is hydrogen produced by the electrolysis of water, using renewable electricity. Production of green hydrogen causes significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions than production of grey hydrogen, which is derived from fossil fuels without carbon capture. Green hydrogen's principal purpose is to help limit global warming to 1.5 °C, reduce fossil fuel dependence by replacing grey hydrogen, and provide for an expanded set of end-uses in specific economic sectors, sub-sectors and activities. These end-uses may be technically difficult to decarbonize through other means such as electrification with renewable power. Ngāti Raukawa is a Māori iwi (tribe) with traditional bases in the Waikato, Taupō and Manawatū/ Horowhenua regions of New Zealand.
