''Black Dawn'' (Hungarian: ''Fekete hajnal'') is a 1943 Hungarian drama film directed by László Kalmár and starring István Nagy, Bea Goll and Margit Lukács. Juhász p.132 It was shot at the Hunnia Studios in Budapest. The film's sets were designed by the art director Lajos Lévay. Synopsis Sculptor László and his new wife are travelling home from their honeymoon when they are involved in a train crash. His wife is killed while László loses his sight. However, another woman Anita tries to help him rebuild his life. László Kalmár (director)
László Kalmár (1900–1980) was a Hungarian screenwriter and film director. Cunningham p.37 He began his career in the Horthy era, learning his craft as an assistant director before directing his first film in 1939. His melodrama ''Flames (1941 film), Flames'' was screened at the 9th Venice International Film Festival (void), 1941 Venice Film Festival. He was able to continue his career at the end of the Second World War, unlike many other Hungarian filmmakers, and transitioned to working under the new Hungarian People's Republic, Communist regime. Gyula Szabó (15 July 1930 – 4 April 2014) was a Hungarians, Hungarian actor. He won two Mari Jászai Prizes. He appeared in forty movies between 1953 and 2002. He is best known for appearing in movies such as ''Ifjú szívvel'' (1953), ''Kiskrajcár'' (1953), ''Egy pikoló világos'' (1955), ''A tizedes meg a többiek'' (1965) and ''Defekt'' (1977).
