Federation X or "FED X" is an American rock band, originally formed in Bellingham, Washington Bellingham ( ) is the county seat of Whatcom County, Washington, Whatcom County in the U.S. state of Washington (state), Washington. In 2003, Estrus released ''X Patriot'', recorded by Steve Albini at Electrical Audio in Chicago. In 2005, Estrus released ''Rally Day'', recorded by Ryan Anderson at MARS Studio in Bellingham. Estrus Records is an independent record label from Bellingham, Washington that makes surf, garage and trash rock music. They have released such bands as Mono Men, The Drags, The Mummies, Supercharger, Impala, Man or Astro-man?, the Makers, 5.6.7.8's, Gas Huffer, Mooney Suzuki, Soledad Brothers, DMBQ, The Cherry Valence, Midnight Evils, Federation X, The Trashwomen, Satan's Pilgrims, The Von Zippers, Tricky Woo, Untamed Youth, Immortal Lee County Killers, The Dexateens, Marble Orchard, The Mortals and Southern Culture on the Skids. For many years Estrus hosted an annual festival, '' Garage Shock'', at The 3B Tavern in Bellingham. Garage Shock featured bands from the labels roster, as well as others from around the world. Recess Records
Recess Records is an independent record label founded in 1988. Label founder Todd Congelliere (frontman for F.Y.P and Toys That Kill) initially made 100 cassettes of F.Y.P's songs and sold them at skateboard contests. Two years later, Congelliere released a vinyl record, F.Y.P's ''Extra Credit'', an 11-song 7-inch record, and the label took off from there. In between touring the U.S., Europe, and Japan, Congelliere began releasing records for fellow punk rock and DIY bands, eventually having a roster of close to 20 artists on his label. Pinhead Gunpowder, fronted by Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, announced in April 2008 that a new 7" single from the band would be released on Recess Records in late May 2008.
