Federation Of Maritime Workers
The Federation of Maritime Workers (, FWZ) was a trade union representing sailors in the Netherlands. The union was founded in 1967, when the recently founded General Association of Seafarers merged with the Central Organisation of Sailors and Fishermen. Originally named the Federation of Workers' Organisations in Maritime Shipping, like both its predecessors, it affiliated to the Dutch Confederation of Trade Unions (NVV). In 1969, its fishing section transferred to the Dutch Transport Workers' Union, but in 1970, it was joined by the Association of Captains and Officers of the Merchant Navy. In 1974, the union formed the Federation of Transport Trade Unions, with the Transport Workers' Union NVV and the Transport Workers' Union NKV, but it left in 1976. In 1982, the union was a founding affiliate of the Federation of Dutch Trade Unions (FNV), at which time, it had 6,368 members. Dutch Confederation Of Trade Unions
The Dutch Confederation of Trade Unions (, NVV) was a Dutch social-democratic trade union. History The NVV was founded in 1906 as a merger of fifteen smaller unions, as a result of the inability of the previous unions to control the radical elements of the workers movement in the railworkers' strike of 1903. The NVV was led by Henri Polak, who was a prominent member of the socialist Social Democratic Workers' Party. During World War II the NVV was taken over by the German occupiers, its Dutch leader was Henk Woudenberg. Under the German occupation the NVV was transformed into a Nazi union. After the war these influences were purged and the NVV cooperated tightly with the centre left government to create a welfare state based on the principles of corporatism. The Dutch Transport Workers' Union (, NBV) was a trade union representing workers in the transport industry in the Netherlands. The union was established in 1956, when the Dutch Transport Workers' Association merged with the Central Union of Workers in the Transport Industry. Like both its predecessors, the union affiliated to the Dutch Confederation of Trade Unions (NVV). The General Union of Aviation Workers joined in 1961, followed in 1969 by the fishing section of the General Union of Seafarers. In 1964, the union had 45,534 members. The Dutch Catholic Union of Transport Personnel (, KBV), also known as "Sint Raphaël", was a trade union representing workers in the transport industry in the Netherlands. The union was founded in 1903, as the Dutch Roman Catholic Union of Railway and Tramway Personnel, at a conference in Tilburg. By 1910, it had 4,000 members. From 1925, it was affiliated to the Roman Catholic Workers' Federation. In 1941, the Nazi occupiers ordered the union to come under their control, but the members instead dissolved it. The union was re-established in 1945, affiliating to the Catholic Workers' Movement. Around thie time, it absorbed small unions representing workers at Van Gend & Loos, and KLM. The Construction and Wood Union (, B&HB) was a trade union representing workers in the construction and woodworking industries in the Netherlands. The union was founded on 1 January 1982, when the General Dutch Union of the Building and Wood Industries merged with the Dutch Catholic Union of the Building and Wood Industries.
