Federal Highway (Australia)
The Federal Highway is a highway in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. It is a part of a motorway-standard link between Sydney and Canberra, and is also the main thoroughfare between those cities. The north-eastern end of the Federal Highway is located at its junction with Hume Highway near the rural city of Goulburn. It runs southwest to Canberra, the national capital of Australia, where its southwestern end is located at the intersection of Northbourne Avenue and Barton Highway. The Federal Highway passes the villages of Wollogorang, and , as well as skirting the western side of the endorheic basin containing Lake George. The Canberra light rail network is a light rail system serving the city of Canberra, Australia. The initial line links the northern town centre of Gungahlin to the city centre (Civic) and has 14 stops. Services commenced on 20 April 2019. Lake George (or Weereewa or Ngungara in the Ngunnawal language) is an Endorheic basin, endorheic lake in south-eastern New South Wales, Australia. It is approximately north-east of Canberra located adjacent to the Federal Highway, Australia, Federal Highway en route to Canberra and Sydney. An endorheic basin ( ; also endoreic basin and endorreic basin) is a drainage basin that normally retains water and allows no outflow to other external bodies of water (e.g. rivers and oceans); instead, the water drainage flows into permanent and seasonal lakes and swamps that equilibrate through evaporation. Endorheic basins are also called closed basins, terminal basins, and internal drainage systems. Endorheic regions contrast with open lakes (exorheic regions), where surface waters eventually drain into the ocean. Wollogorang is a locality in the Upper Lachlan Shire and Goulburn Mulwaree Council, New South Wales, Australia. A small part of the locality is in Queanbeyan–Palerang Regional Council. It is located about 35 km southwest of Goulburn and 61 km northeast of Canberra.
