Obesity
Obesity is a medical condition, sometimes considered a disease, in which excess body fat has accumulated to such an extent that it may negatively affect health. People are classified as obese when their body mass index (BMI)—a person's weight divided by the square of the person's height—is over ; the range is defined as overweight. Mike Pelanconi, better known under his record name Prince Fatty, is a British sound engineer and record producer. Fatty and George is an Australian children's sci-fi television series from 1981 produced by the Tasmanian Film Corporation for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. The series consisted of 10 episodes of 25-minute duration. The series follows the adventures of a brother and sister as they try to discover the whereabouts of their scientist father, whilst being pursued by an evil woman and her henchman. ''The Bash Street Kids'' is a comic strip in the British comic magazine ''The Beano''. It also appeared briefly in The Wizard as series of prose stories in 1955. The strip, created by Leo Baxendale as ''When the Bell Rings'', first appeared in issue 604 (dated February 1954). It became ''The Bash Street Kids'' in 1956 and has become a regular feature, appearing in every issue. Since 1961, David Sutherland has drawn about 2,100 strips. History Like many long-running UK comic strips, ''The Bash Street Kids'' is mostly frozen in the era when it began. Frederick James "Fatty" Fudge is a fictional character who appears in the British comics magazine ''The Beano''. He is the best friend of Minnie the Minx, and would eventually star in his own eponymous comic strip in 1989. Character background When he was known as Fatty Fudge, he had an addiction to unhealthy food, particularly confectionery. He was very greedy and would do anything for food, which Minnie often used to her advantage. Alongside Minnie's other rival Soppy Susan, he was usually the butt of Minnie's pranks, although his services were occasionally engaged by Minnie for the furtherance of her schemes. ''Fatty Finn'' was a popular long-run Australian comic strip series, created in 1923 by Syd Nicholls. It ran in syndication until the creator's death in 1977. History In 1923 Syd Nicholls, a senior artist at Sydney's ''Evening News'', was asked by managing editor, Errol Knox, to produce a Sunday comic strip to compete with a popular strip in the rival ''Sunday Times'', the hugely popular ''Us Fellers'', produced by Jimmy Bancks.
