Fatiha El-Ghorri
Fatiha El-Ghorri (born 19 April 1984) is a British comedian and writer. Early life El-Ghorri's family is from the town of Larache in Morocco. She was born in the London Borough of Hackney, where she grew up with thirteen siblings. Her father died when she was six years old. Career In 2015, El-Ghorri began a course on comedy writing and performance which she found through the online platform Meetup, and went on to pursue a career in stand-up comedy. She was a finalist in the Funny Women in London competition and for the Max Turner Prize, and toured as part of the Super Muslim Comedy Tour alongside Esther Manito and Abdullah Afzal. El-Ghorri has performed around the UK in venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, as well as in Dubai. Hackney is a district in East London, England, forming around two-thirds of the area of the modern London Borough of Hackney, to which it gives its name. It is 4 miles (6.4 km) northeast of Charing Cross and includes part of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Historically it was within the county of Middlesex. ''Taskmaster'' is a British comedy panel game show created by comedian and musician Alex Horne. It is presented by Horne (who acts as an umpire/task facilitator) and Greg Davies (in the titular role of "Taskmaster"). In each series of the programme, a group of five celebritiesmainly comediansattempt to complete a series of challenges in the Taskmaster House or at an offsite location. ''The Big Fat Quiz of the Year'' is an approximately annual British television programme broadcast in the last or first week of the year on Channel 4. The show is a comedy panel game in the style of a pub quiz. Shazia Mirza is a British comedian, actress, and writer. She is best known for her stand-up comedy, and her articles in British newspapers ''The Guardian'' and ''The Daily Telegraph''. Early life and education Mirza was born in Birmingham, England, the eldest daughter of Punjabi Pakistani parents who moved to Birmingham, England in the 1950s. Mirza read Biochemistry at the University of Manchester and then achieved a Postgraduate Certificate in Education at Goldsmiths, University of London. Ola Labib () is an English comedian. Born in Portsmouth, she became a pharmacist after failing to get into medical school, and spent more than seven years working in the National Health Service (NHS). An incident in which she administered the wrong medication to a patient prompted her to reconsider her career, and she became a comedian after a chat with her brothers. She was a finalist during the 2019 Beat the Frog World Series and at the 2021 Funny Women awards, and performed at the UK's first socially distanced comedy show in July 2020. The Leicester Comedy Festival is an annual comedy festival held in a number of venues across Leicester, England early in the year. History In the early 1990s, De Montfort University arts administration student, Geoff Rowe proposed a project to his lecturers to set up and run a comedy festival for Leicester. Rowe called Tony Slattery, Harry Hill and Matt Lucas for the inaugural Leicester Comedy Festival in 1994, with 40 events at 23 venues for 5,000 tickets.
