Fatih Sonkaya
Fatih Sonkaya (born 1 July 1981) is a Turkish retired footballer who played as a right back. He also held Dutch nationality, due to the many years spent in that country. Club career Although born in Oltu, Eastern Anatolia Region, Sonkaya spent most of his youth in Heerlen, Netherlands where he, together with older brother Özcan, started playing soccer at RKSV Heerlen. He started his professional career at Roda JC in 1998 and, after six seasons (three as first-choice), with a loan to VVV-Venlo in between, transferred to Beşiktaş J.K. in his homeland. For 2005–06, Sonkaya signed for Portuguese club FC Porto, and collected the Primeira Liga winner's medal, albeit playing sparingly. The following campaign he was loaned to Académica de Coimbra also in the country, appearing in just four top division games. The FIFA Confederations Cup was an international association football tournament for men's national teams, held every four years by FIFA. It was contested by the holders of each of the six continental championships ( AFC, CAF, CONCACAF, CONMEBOL, OFC, and UEFA), along with the current FIFA World Cup holder and the host nation, to bring the number of teams up to eight. The 2005–06 Taça de Portugal was the 66th edition of the Portuguese football knockout tournament, organized by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF). The 2005–06 Taça de Portugal began on 4 September 2005. The final was played on 14 May 2006 at the Estádio Nacional. Vitória de Setúbal were the previous holders, having defeated Benfica 2–1, in the previous season's final. However, Vitória de Setúbal was not able to regain their title as they were defeated in the final by Porto. Taça De Portugal
The Taça de Portugal (; ) is an annual association football competition and the premier knockout tournament in Portuguese football. For sponsorship reasons, it has been known as Taça de Portugal Generali Tranquilidade since the 2024–25 season. Organised by the Portuguese Football Federation since it was first held in 1938, the competition is open to professional and amateur clubs from the top-four league divisions. Matches are played from August–September to May–June, and the final is traditionally held at the Estádio Nacional in Oeiras, near Lisbon. 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup
The 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup football tournament was the sixth FIFA Confederations Cup, held in France in June 2003. France retained the title they had won in 2001, but the tournament was overshadowed by the death of Cameroon player Marc-Vivien Foé, who died of heart failure in his side's semi-final against Colombia. Foé's death united the France and Cameroon teams in the final match, which was played even though team players from both sides had explicitly stated that the match should not be played out of respect for Foé. France went on to win the trophy with a golden goal from Thierry Henry. At the presentation of medals and trophies, two Cameroon players held a gigantic photo of Foé, and a runner-up medal was hung to the edge of the photo. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap.
