Fatar is an Italian supplier of keyboards for digital pianos, synthesizers and organs, based in Recanati, Italy. The company was founded by Lino Ragni in 1956. It patented its own hammer-action prototype in 1989 and introduced the conductive-rubber contact in 1990. The company has since produced both its own "Studiologic" brand of MIDI controllers and other keyboard instruments, supplies keyboards for third-party manufacturers, and manufactures electronic sustain pedals. In 2008, Fatar released the Numa keyboard controller, which was constructed entirely from Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) and allowed the user to define their own velocity curves. Recanati () is a town and ''comune'' in the Province of Macerata, in the Marche region of Italy. Recanati was founded around 1150 AD from three pre-existing castles. In 1290 it proclaimed itself an independent republic and, in the 15th century, was famous for its international fair. In March 1798 it was conquered by Napoleon Bonaparte. A conductive elastomer is a form of elastomer, often natural rubber or other rubber substitute, that is manufactured to conduct electricity. This is commonly accomplished by distributing carbon or other conductive particles throughout the raw material prior to setting it. Carbon black and silica are common additives to induce conductivity in elastomers. Silica has been studied more so than other additives due to its low cost however, its conductance is also lower. These additives can not only enable conductance but can increase the mechanical properties of the elastomer. Sustain Pedal
A sustain pedal or sustaining pedal (also called damper pedal, loud pedal, or open pedal) is the most commonly used pedal in a modern piano. It is typically the rightmost of two or three pedals. When pressed, the sustain pedal " sustains" all the damped strings on the piano by moving all the dampers away from the strings and allowing them to vibrate freely. All notes played will continue to sound until the vibration naturally ceases, or until the pedal is released. This lets the pianist sustain notes that would otherwise be out of reach, for instance in accompanying chords, and accomplish '' legato'' passages (smoothly connected notes) that would have no possible fingering otherwise. Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) (chemical formula (C8H8)''x''·(C4H6)''y''·(C3H3N)''z'' is a common thermoplastic polymer. Its glass transition temperature is approximately . ABS is amorphous and therefore has no true melting point. ABS is a terpolymer made by polymerizing styrene and acrylonitrile in the presence of polybutadiene. The proportions can vary from 15% to 35% acrylonitrile, 5% to 30% butadiene and 40% to 60% styrene.
