Fast Company (1918 Film)
''Fast Company'' is a 1918 American silent comedy film directed by Lynn Reynolds and starring Juanita Hansen, Edward Cecil, Lon Chaney and Franklyn Farnum. (Lon Chaney had a relatively small role in this film, but the review from ''Motion Picture News'' slammed him for "overacting".) The film is today considered lost. Co-writer Waldemar Young later went on to script a number of Lon Chaney's later silent films, such as ''The Blackbird'', ''The Unknown'' and ''The Unholy Three'' (1925 version) and collaborated with director Tod Browning as well. Plot Lawrence Van Huyler (Farnum), being constantly goaded by his family regarding his prestige, finds it impossible to be anything but inhibited and a pampered cad. Any rebelliousness is quickly nipped in the bud by his father, Peter Van Huyler (Montague). Lynn Reynolds
Lynn Fairfield Reynolds (May 7, 1889 – February 25, 1927) was an American director and screenwriter. Reynolds directed more than 80 films between 1915 and 1928. He also wrote for 58 films between 1914 and 1927. Reynolds was born in Harlan, Iowa and died in Los Angeles, California, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Death Returning home in 1927 after being snowbound in the Sierras for three weeks, Reynolds telephoned his wife, actress Kathleen O'Connor (actress), Kathleen O'Connor, to arrange a dinner party at their Hollywood, Los Angeles, Hollywood home with another couple. During the dinner, Reynolds and O'Connor engaged in a heated quarrel in which each accused the other of infidelity. With his guests following in an attempt to calm him down, Reynolds left the table to retrieve a pistol from another room where he shot himself in the head. Edward Cecil (September 13, 1878 – December 13, 1940) was an American film actor.Munden p. 57 During the silent era he played supporting roles and the occasion lead. Juanita Hansen
Juanita Hansen (born Juanita Cecilia Hanson; March 3, 1895 – September 26, 1961) was an American actress who performed in silent films. She became one of the Sennett Bathing Beauties and appeared in a variety of Serial (film), serials through the late 1910s. She was well known for her troubled personal life and struggle with addiction to cocaine and morphine. In 1934, she became clean and traveled lecturing on the dangers of drugs. She wrote a book about addiction and started her own charity to help raise awareness about drug abuse. Early life Juanita Cecilia Hanson was born in Thor, Iowa to Henry George Hanson, who was originally from Wisconsin, and Johanna Sophia Peterson (or Pederson) on March 3, 1895 or March 5, 1895 (sources differ). Alternatively, her birthplace has been given as Des Moines and her birth year as 1897.
