Farris
Farris is a lake on the border of Telemark and Vestfold counties in Norway. The long freshwater moraine-dammed lake is located mostly in Larvik Municipality in Vestfold, but the northwestern part of the lake is located in Siljan Municipality and Porsgrunn Municipality in Telemark. The large Larvik (town), town of Larvik is located at the southern end of the lake. The lake would have been part of the saltwater Larviksfjorden, had it not been dammed by an moraine, end moraine left by the latest Weichsel glaciation, ice age. That moraine is about wide, separating the lake from the sea. There is a short river that runs through the moraine which drains the lake into the fjord. The lake Farris is a drinking water reservoir for about 170,000 people in the region. The largest island in the lake is Bjørnøya (Larvik), Bjørnøya, located just east of the village of Kjose. Farris is a brand of mineral water produced in Larvik. It is Norway's oldest and best-selling bottled water. It has been mentioned in literature as having positive health effects. History 19th century The product originated as a spin-off from the Spas in Vestfold when Mineral cures became popular in Norway in the second half of the 19th century. In 1875 Ingebrigt Christian Holm, Dr. J.C.Holm, a doctor and health resort pioneer, discovered a spring rich with minerals close to the river Farriselva. This led to the establishing of Larvik Bad (originally ''Laurvig Bad'') in 1880, a mineral spa resort where one of the treatments offered was drinking mineralized water. Farris is an unincorporated community in Atoka County, Oklahoma, United States. It lies east of the county seat of Atoka on Highway 3 near the county border. A post office was established at Farris, Indian Territory on May 17, 1902. It was named for the first postmaster, John L. Farris. At the time of its founding, Farris was located in Jacks Fork County, Choctaw Nation. McGee Creek Reservoir, which impounds the waters of McGee Creek, lies a short distance to the northwest. McGee Creek is a tributary to Muddy Boggy Creek, which flows west of Farris. Education Farris is in the Lane Public School school district. Farris Center
The Farris Center is a 6,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Conway, Arkansas. It was built in 1972. It is home to the University of Central Arkansas Bears basketball program. Renovations to the Farris Center in 2010 included new scoreboards and renovated court including logos. New floor seating was added in 2012.
