West Berlin
West Berlin ( or , ) was a political enclave which comprised the western part of Berlin from 1948 until 1990, during the Cold War. Although West Berlin lacked any sovereignty and was under military occupation until German reunification in 1990, the territory was claimed by the West Germany, Federal Republic of Germany (FRG or West Germany), despite being entirely surrounded by the East Germany, German Democratic Republic (GDR or East Germany). The legality of this claim was contested by the Soviet Union and other Eastern Bloc countries. However, West Berlin de facto aligned itself politically with the FRG from May 1949 and was thereafter treated as a ''de facto'' city-state of that country. After 1949, it was directly or indirectly represented in the institutions of the FRG, and most of its residents were citizens of the FRG. West Berlin was formally controlled by the Western Allies and entirely surrounded by East Berlin and East Germany. West Berlin had great symbolic signi ... The Friedrich Wilhelm University (which was renamed the Humboldt University of Berlin, Humboldt University), being in East Berlin, was subject to East Germany's comparatively restrictive information laws. The ''Free University'' 's name referred to West Berlin's status as part of the intellectual continua of the Western "Free World, ''Free'' World", contrasting with communist-controlled East Berlin. Auch (album)
''auch'' ("also") is the twelfth full-length studio album by German rock band Die Ärzte. It was released on 13 April 2012. For each song on the album, an animation and a performance video was released on YouTube. The B-sides of the singles also received a video (altogether 37 videos). The videos can also be bought in iTunes. The first single "zeiDverschwÄndung" was released on 2 March 2012. While a commercial success - the album reached the first position in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in the first week after its release - critical reception of ''auch'' was generally mixed. Promoting and touring in support of the album led to personal tensions within the band that resulted in the Die Ärzte's second hiatus (which unlike their first one was unintended) that ended with the writing and recording of ''Hell'', released in 2020. Layout The layout was made by Felix Schlüter instead of the designer Schwarwel who designed for Die Ärzte since 1993. The package is a carton box ... Schrei Nach Liebe
"Schrei nach Liebe" ("Cry for Love") is a punk rock song by German band Die Ärzte. It is the second track and the first single from their 1993 album ''Die Bestie in Menschengestalt''. It is one of the best known political anthems and anti-fascist songs in Germany and was made in the context of the Hoyerswerda riots. Content and music style The verses tell the story of a fictional right-wing extremist, who gets insulted. Excerpts from the song's lyrics (with English translation): :"Du bist wirklich saudumm Alles muss man dir erklären, weil du wirklich gar nichts weißt…" :''"You are really stupid Everything has to be explained to you, because you really don't know anything…"'' In the chorus the insults go further: :"Deine Gewalt ist nur ein stummer Schrei nach Liebe Du hast nie gelernt dich zu artikulieren. Und deine Eltern hatten niemals für dich Zeit". :''"Your violence is just a silent scream for love You never learned to express yourself. And your paren ...
