Faride Raful
Faride Virginia Raful Soriano is a lawyer, politician, and radio and TV presenter from the Dominican Republic. She is the current senator of the National District. She also serves as senate majority leader. Life and career Raful was born in Santo Domingo, to politician and poet Tony Raful, winner of the 2014 National Prize of Literature, and his wife Grey Soriano. She studied law at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra; she obtained a master's degree in telecommunications law and information technology at Charles III University of Madrid. She has also studied at the University of Salamanca and the University of Andes. Coat Of Arms Of The Dominican Republic
The coat of arms of the Dominican Republic features a shield in similarly quartered colors as the flag, supported by a bay laurel branch (left) and a Palm tree, palm frond (right); above the shield, a blue ribbon displays the national motto: ''Dios, Patria, Libertad'' (God, Homeland, Liberty). Dominican Liberation Party
The Dominican Liberation Party (Spanish: Partido de la Liberación Dominicana, referred to here by its Spanish acronym, the PLD) is a political party in the Dominican Republic. Tony Dandrades (born June 17, 1968 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) is a Dominican journalist and television personality who works at the Univision Network. He is currently the entertainment reporter/anchor for the five o'clock news magazine show ''Primer Impacto''. Career On finishing his studies in communication at the Interamerican University in Puerto Rico, Tony developed his skills at Puerto Rican television and radio stations before he found new opportunities on the radio in Miami. Then he took his big step into the South Florida Univision affiliate. Dandrades worked for five years as weekend weatherman at Channel 23 in Miami. Orlando Martínez Howley
Orlando Martínez Howley (September 23, 1944 – March 17, 1975) was a left-wing journalist and member of the Communist Party of the Dominican Republic who was a critic of President Joaquín Balaguer. He was ordered to be killed by the then president in 1975, and in 2000, four men were given 30-year jail sentences in connection with the killing. Orlando Martínez has become a symbol of freedom of expression in the Dominican Republic. Personal Orlando Martínez was born in Las Matas de Farfán in the Dominican Republic, in 1944. Pedro Henríquez Ureña
Pedro Henríquez Ureña (June 29, 1884 – May 11, 1946) was a Dominican essayist, philosopher, humanist, philologist and literary critic. Biography Early works Pedro Henríquez Ureña was born in Santo Domingo, the third of four siblings. Henríquez's father was Francisco Henríquez y Carvajal, a doctor and politician who was also an intellectual who maintained permanent contact with the most important representatives of the Hispanic Modernism movements from the early 20th century. Henríquez Carvajal would become president of the Republic for a brief period in 1916, before the American occupation. He descended from Jews who immigrated in the 19th century from Curaçao. His mother was the eminent poet and feminist Salomé Ureña. Both played a key role in Pedro's formation and education. His brother, Max, and sister, Camila, were also writers. Milagros Germán Olalla (born 29 December 1958) is a Dominican-Armenian television presenter, producer, actress, and the winner of Miss Dominican Republic 1980 and Miss Reinado Internacional del Cafe 1981 beauty pageants. Miguel Franjul Bucarelly is a Dominican author and editor. He is currently the director of the newspaper ''Listín Diario'' and founded the newspaper ''Hoy.'' Franjul has published four books.
