Fareham Town F.C. is a association football, football club based in Fareham, Hampshire, England. The club is affiliated to the Hampshire Football Association, and is an England Accredited club. They currently play in the Isthmian League South Central Division after defeating Andover New Street 2-1 in the Wessex Football League, Wessex League play offs final on 26 April 2025. History Fareham Town were formed in 1947, when three local sides Fareham FC, Fareham Brotherhood FC and Fareham Youth Centre FC amalgamated together after at a public meeting in the town in 1946, it was suggested to form a football club for the town. The club joined the Portsmouth League and started playing their games at Beaconsfield Meadow, before moving to Bath Lane. At the end of the 1948–49 season the club gained promotion to Division 3 (East) of the Hampshire League, and gained promotion to Division Two as champions at the first attempt. Fareham
Fareham ( ) is a market town at the north-west tip of Portsmouth Harbour, between the cities of Portsmouth and Southampton in south east Hampshire, England. It gives its name to the Borough of Fareham. It was historically an important manufacturer of bricks, used to build the Royal Albert Hall, and grower of strawberries and other seasonal fruits. In 2011 it had a population of 42,210. Thomas McGhee
Thomas Edward McGhee (10 May 1929 – 19 May 2018) was an English footballer best known for his spell at Portsmouth FC during the 1950s, making 136 appearances which gained him England recognition at Amateur and 'B' level. Football career Early years Early in his boyhood, McGhee caught the football bug when going to watch his uncle play in the Manchester Amateur League. At the age of twelve he started taking a serious interest in playing when he became a permanent member of the St. Teresa's School team. He later spent two years at the Stretford Technical College, opposite Lancashire County Cricket Club's ground and about half a mile from Old Trafford. He took part in locally organised coaches – one week to Manchester United and the next to Manchester City. Dave Leworthy
David Leworthy (born 22 October 1962) is an English retired footballer who played as a centre forward. Career Leworthy started his career with his hometown club Portsmouth. After spending 9 years with Pompey, from the age of 10, he moved to Non-League Fareham Town where his prolific goalscoring record there earned him a dream move to Tottenham Hotspur. Leworthy made his Spurs debut in the North London derby, against arch rivals Arsenal, that ended in a 2–0 defeat at White Hart Lane in front of a crowd of 40,399 on 17 April 1985. Ian Martin Juryeff (born 24 November 1962) is an English former professional footballer who played as a forward for various Football League clubs in the 1980s and 1990s. He started his career as a trainee with Southampton, but only made two substitute appearances in the First Division in 1983 before being released. After several loan spells, he then had a ten-year career in the lower leagues, including over four years at Orient. After ceasing to play in the Football League, he qualified as a sports scientist and was employed as a community football development officer, while continuing to play non-League football on a part-time basis. Ross J. Irwin (born 9 May 1960) is a Scottish former professional footballer. He played for Fareham Town (England), FC Stade Nyonnais (Switzerland), the Bahama Royals (Bahamas) and the Boston Bolts and Albany Capitals of the American Soccer League. Career Irwin graduated from Carnegie College, Leeds University, England. He played for Swiss club FC Stade Nyonnais from 1982 to 1984. He had the distinction of being the first player to be signed by the Boston Bolts franchise as one of their three foreign players. Darren Foreman (born 12 February 1968) is an English former footballer. Career He played for Fareham Town, Barnsley, Crewe Alexandra and Scarborough. Foreman is Scarborough's all-time top goalscorer in the Football League with 35 goals (they were a Football League team from 1987 to 1999), 27 of which were scored in the 1992–93 season. However, he suffered a career-ending injury soon afterwards, although he did continue playing at non-league level. Kevin Paul Dillon (born 18 December 1959) is an English former professional footballer born in Sunderland. He played in the Football League for Birmingham City, Portsmouth, Newcastle United and Reading, and was capped once for England under-21. He was first-team manager of League Two club Aldershot Town from November 2009 to January 2011.
