Joyce Fardell
Joyce Fardell (1923–2007) was an Australian teacher librarian and advocate for children's literature. She was instrumental in establishing teacher librarian roles in New South Wales Schools, establishing the principle of teacher-librarians being qualified both as teachers and as librarians. Early life Joyce Gladys Fardell was born in Portland, New South Wales on 31 March 1923. She attended Portland Intermediate High School and won a bursary to further her high school education. Joyce attended Sydney University 1940-1943 and did her practice teaching at Sydney Girls High School in 1943. Career Joyce began her career as a teacher, then teacher librarian, at Portland Intermediate High School in 1944. She then became teacher librarian at Penrith High School from 1951 to 1955. Joyce was invited to join the NSW School Library Service in 1956, by the "founding" officer-in-charge, Elizabeth Hill. There she worked with Ailsa Hows and Maurice Saxby. Dawn Fardell
Dawn Elizabeth Fardell (born 14 September 1947), a former Australian politician, was an independent member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly representing Dubbo between 2004 and 2011. Early years and background Fardell was born Sydney and moved to Dubbo in 1977. She is married to a local businessman and has three adult children. Fardell was a Councillor for Dubbo City Council between 1999 and 2005. Political career Following the 2004 death of independent Tony McGrane, Fardell was elected to represent Dubbo at the subsequent by-election. At the time, the by-election was seen as a test of the NSW Nationals, who had held the seat for 17 years prior to McGrane's election in 1999, while Fardell presented herself as "capable of working with any party and not having to toe the party line". George Fardell
Sir Thomas George Fardell (26 October 1833 – 12 March 1917) was a British Conservative Party politician. He was the youngest son of Reverend Henry Fardell, a Church of England clergyman who held the posts of Canon of Ely and vicar of Wisbech, Isle of Ely, Cambridgeshire and his wife Eliza Sparke, daughter of Bowyer Sparke, Bishop of Ely. He was educated at Eton College and Christ Church, Oxford, graduating BA in 1856. In 1862 he was called to the bar at Lincoln's Inn. He practised on the Norfolk Circuit before being appointed as Registrar in Bankruptcy in Manchester in 1868. From 1877 he was involved in various local government bodies in London.
