Faraj Agha
Faraj is a name of Arabic origins, found in many locations including in Kuwait, Yemen, Egypt, Libya, United Arab Emirates, Azerbaijan, Iran, and others. The name derived from Arabic meaning "joy after sadness", and can also hold the meaning "to cure", "fortune", or "remedy". Historically the name was used to ward off evil spirits, such as in the case when a sibling or parent has died. There are many variations on this name and its spelling due to language transfer issues between old Spanish, Modern Spanish, and Arabic. During the Middle Ages, the name Abu al-Faraj () was a title for many Arab and Jewish poets and scholars. __NOTOC__ Mononym or honorific * Abu Said Faraj (1248-1320), a Nasrid prince of Granada, d. 1320 * an-Nasir Faraj (1386-1412), Burji Mamluk Sultan of Egypt, 1399–1405 * Faraj ben Salim, Sicilian-Jewish physician and translator Given name * Faraj Abbo (1921–1984), Iraqi artist, theatre director, designer, author and educator * Faraj Al-Ghashayan (born ...

Dibsi Faraj is an archaeological site on the right bank of the Euphrates in Aleppo Governorate (Syria). The site was excavated as part of a larger international effort coordinated by UNESCO to excavate as many archaeological sites as possible in the area that would be flooded by the reservoir created by the Tabqa Dam, which was being built at that time. An initial, small archaeological sounding was done at Dibsi Faraj by the Syrian Department of Antiquities in 1971. Following this investigation, the site was excavated between 1972 and 1974 as part of a joint operation of the Dumbarton Oaks Center for Byzantine Studies and the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology at the University of Michigan under the direction of Richard P. Harper. Since then, the site has disappeared under the rising waters of Lake Assad, the reservoir created by the Tabqa Dam. The excavations revealed that the site was occupied between the first and tenth century CE. During this period, the site developed from a R ...
