Fantasy Stakes (Japan)
The Fantasy Stakes (Japanese ファンタジーステークス) is a Japanese Grade 3 horse race for two-year-old Thoroughbred fillies run in November over a distance of 1400 metres at Kyoto Racecourse. The race was first run in 1996 and has held Grade 3 status ever since. Ioritz Mendizabal (born 5 May 1974 in Oiartzun) is a Spanish Basque people, Basque flat racing jockey, who is long-term based in France. He won his first race in 1990 and joined the stable of Jean-Claude Rouget the following year. Mendizabal is a four-time French flat racing Champion Jockey, winning the Cravache d'Or in 2004, 2008, 2009 and 2010. (b. November 3, 1978, in Rittō, Shiga) is a Japanese trainer of Thoroughbred race horses and ex-jockey. He is the younger brother of Yutaka Take. Jockey career Take debuted as a jockey in March 1, 1997 at the Hanshin Racecourse. The following day, he won his first race and also his first graded race at the same time, with him winning the Yomiuri Milers Cup while riding ''Osumi Tycoon,'' making him the fastest rookie to win a graded race. Resistencia (, foaled 15 March 2017) is a retired Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. She was the leading juvenile filly in Japan in 2019 when she was unbeaten in three starts including the Fantasy Stakes and the Hanshin Juvenile Fillies. In 2020 she ran second in both the Oka Sho and the NHK Mile Cup. Background Resistencia is a bay filly with a white blaze bred in Japan by Northern Farm. Danon Fantasy (, foaled 30 January 2016) is a Japanese Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. After finishing second in her first appearance as a two-year-old in 2018 she won her three remaining races including the Fantasy Stakes (Japan), Fantasy Stakes and Hanshin Juvenile Fillies and took the JRA Award for Best Two-Year-Old Filly. Cristian Demuro (born 8 July 1992) is an Italian jockey who competes in Flat racing. Yoshito Yahagi
is a trainer of Thoroughbred race horses. He has been a licensed trainer in Japan since 2004 and since 2014 has won the training title three times. After studying English at Athénée Français for six months, he went to Australia to learn horse training. He says he chose Australia because it was similar to Japan in that horse racing is dominated by speed on turf courses, the stable system, and the quarantine system are very strict and the environment internationally isolated. He has trained Contrail, the 2020 Japanese Triple Crown winner. In the 2021 Breeders' Cup at Del Mar in California, Yahagi trained two winners— Filly & Mare Turf winner Loves Only You and Distaff winner Marche Lorraine. He has enjoyed much of his success on the Japanese flat racing circuit, with the most wins at Japan Racing Association racetracks for five consecutive years since 2017. Mirco Demuro (, January 11, 1979) is an Italian jockey based in Japan. His younger brother, Cristian, as well as their sister, Pamela, is also a jockey. Their late father Giovanni was also a jockey. Career Mirco Demuro first earned his jockey license in 1994 and became the leading learning jockey of Italy in 1995. He was the leading jockey of Italy from 1997 to 2000. Among the horses he rode in Italy was Falbrav, who he rode on the horse's maiden race.
