Fantastic (Toy-Box Album)
''FanTastic'' is the debut studio album by Danish bubblegum pop band Toy-Box. It was released by Edel SE & Co. KGaA, Edel on 21 May 1999. It includes the hit single (music), singles "Tarzan & Jane (song), Tarzan & Jane", "Best Friend (Toy-Box song), Best Friend" and "The Sailor Song", and the promotional single "Teddybear". It also includes the "Toy-Box Space Trap" video game for Personal computer, PC. It spent two weeks at number 1 on the Dutch chart in July of the same year. The artwork resembles the layout of European PlayStation (console), PlayStation games. Music videos Toy-Box released music videos for "Tarzan & Jane (song), Tarzan & Jane", "Best Friend (Toy-Box song), Best Friend", "The Sailor Song" and "Teddybear". Most of Toy-Box's videos could be considered cartoonish, while "Teddybear" is a more realistic video. The group's members are vocalists Amir El-Falaki and Anila Mirza. History Toy-Box was founded by Amir El-Falaki and Anila Mirza in 1996, after they had met each other at a New Year's Eve party. They had been both singing and dancing professionally for some years, and also stand behind the choreographies of the group. Before becoming a part of the group, El-Falaki used to be a dance teacher. The group's debut single, " Tarzan & Jane", was championed by ''Smash Hits'' magazine in the United Kingdom in 1999, but their UK label Edel decided to hold back the release until later on in the year, to coincide with the release of Disney's ''Tarzan''. Amir El-Falaki
Amir El-Falaki (born 12 August 1973) is a Danish vocalist, dance instructor, and member of the bubblegum dance group Toy-Box. He is of Moroccan descent and speaks Danish, English, Arabic, and French. Amir wanted to be a doctor, but became a dance teacher instead. He met Anila Mirza at a New Year's Eve party and they decided to form Toy-Box. The group is known for songs such as "Best Friend" and " Tarzan & Jane". Career outside of Toy-Box Amir has worked as a dance teacher, music video choreographer, and trainer to F.C. Copenhagen's cheerleading team. Amir performed a rap and danced in Julie Lund's song, ''Merhaba'', at the Danish national Eurovision semi-final, Melodi Grand Prix 2007. However, their song came last (out of eight) in the Semi-Final 2, and was subsequently eliminated in the Wildcard round with 11% of the vote, and so did not progress into the national final. Bubblegum Pop
Bubblegum (also called bubblegum pop) is pop music in a catchy and upbeat style that is marketed for children and adolescents. The term also refers to a more specific rock and pop subgenre, originating in the United States in the late 1960s, that evolved from garage rock, novelty songs, and the Brill Building sound, and which was also defined by its target demographic of preteens and young teenagers. The Archies' 1969 hit " Sugar, Sugar" was a representative example that led to cartoon rock, a short-lived trend of Saturday-morning cartoon series that heavily featured pop rock songs in the bubblegum vein.
