Fanis Koumpouras
Theophanis "Fanis" Koumpouras (; born December 8, 1983) is a Greek former professional basketball player. He is 6 ft 1 in (1.87 m) in height, and played at the point guard position. Professional career Koumpouras began his career playing with the Panionios youth teams. He began his pro career in 2001, with Chalkida. In 2004, he moved to Apollon Patras. In 2007, he joined Olympia Larissa, where he had a great year during the 2007–08 season. In 2008, he signed with Maroussi. National team career With the Greek junior national teams, Koumpouras played at the 1999 FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship, where he won a silver medal, at the 2000 FIBA Europe Under-18 Championship, where he won a bronze medal, and at the 2002 FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship, where he won a gold medal. Greek Basketball League
The Greek Basketball League (GBL), and also known as the Stoiximan Greek Basketball League (GBL) for sponsorship reasons, is the first tier level professional basketball league in Greece. It is run by the Hellenic Basketball Association (abbreviated as HEBA; ), under the legal authority of the Hellenic Basketball Federation (abbreviated as HBF; ). FIBA Europe Under-16 Championship
The FIBA U16 EuroBasket is the new name for the FIBA U16 European Championship, originally known as the FIBA European Championship for Cadets. It's a men's youth basketball competition that was inaugurated with the 1971 edition. Through the 2003 edition, it was held every second year, but since the 2004 edition onward, it is held every year. Point Guard
The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the Basketball positions, five positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position and is usually the shortest player on the court. Point guards are expected to control the pace of the game. They effectively "run" the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. Generally, point guards are expected to be proficient in passing the ball and being able to get Assist (basketball), assists to teammates. The FIBA U20 EuroBasket is the new name for the FIBA U20 European Championship, originally known as the European Championship for Men '22 and Under'. It is a men's youth basketball competition that was inaugurated with the 1992 edition. Through the 2004 edition, it was held biennially, but since the 2005 edition, it is held every year. The tournament was originally an Under-22 age tournament, but it is now an Under-20 age tournament. The current champions are France. Starting with the 2005 B edition, a Division B tournament, which is the secondary level of the European Under-20 Basketball Championship, is also organized. Since the 2013 B edition, the top three placed teams at each year's Division B tournament are promoted to the next year's Division A Championship.
