This is a list of the heads of state of Tanzania, from the independence of Tanganyika in 1961 to the present day. Salma Kikwete (born 30 November 1963) is a Tanzanian educator, activist, and politician who served as the First Lady of Tanzania from 2005 to 2015 as the wife of Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete. Salma Kikwete originally worked as a teacher for more than twenty years. In 2005, the government launched a national campaign for voluntary HIV/ AIDS testing in Dar es Salaam. Salma Kikwete and her husband were among the first in the country to be tested. As of 2009, she was Vice President of the Eastern Region of the Organisation of African First Ladies against HIV/AIDS (OAFLA). In 2012, the First Lady Salma Kikwete, former Botswana President Festus Mogae and ten other African figures partnered with UNESCO and UNAIDS to support the Eastern and Southern Africa Commitment on HIV Prevention and Sexual Health for Young People, which was launched in November 2011. Ikulu
Ikulu is the official residence of the president of Tanzania in Dar es Salaam which was founded by Majid bin Said of Zanzibar in 1865. The State House blends African and Arabian architecture, with wide verandahs and covered walkways. It is white-walled with floors of African terrazzo, and stands in over of grounds overlooking the Indian Ocean on the east and Dar es Salaam to the west. The brass-studded west doors are surmounted by a replica of the Republic's Coat of Arms and flanked by two giant drums. During 2001 one of the entrances after the car gates was adorned with two male Lions overlooking guests as they would be welcomed to the State House of The United Republic Of Tanzania. Ridhiwani Kikwete
Ridhiwani Jakaya Kikwete (born 16 April 1979) is a Tanzanian lawyer and CCM politician. He is currently a Deputy Minister of State Office of the President Public Service Management and Good Governance in Tanzania. Member of Parliament for Chalinze Constituency (CCM). Early life and career He was educated at Shaaban Robert Secondary and Mkwawa Secondary schools. He then joined the University of Dar es Salaam and graduated with an LLB. He has Master in International Relations from University of Dodoma (2023) Political career Ridhiwani is a member of the governing Chama Cha Mapinduzi. In March 2014, he succeeded in being nominated to contest for the Chalinze by-election following the death of Saidi Bwanamdogo.
