Falling Waters Trail
Little Haystack Mountain is a peak on the Franconia Range of the White Mountains located in Grafton County, New Hampshire, United States. It is flanked to the north by Mount Lincoln and to the southwest by Mount Liberty. The Appalachian Trail, a National Scenic Trail from Georgia to Maine, traverses Franconia Ridge, including Little Haystack. Although well over in height, the Appalachian Mountain Club doesn't consider Little Haystack a " four-thousand footer" because it stands less than above the col on the ridge from Lincoln. The Falling Waters Trail is the most popular route up Little Haystack Mountain, leading from U.S. Route 3 to the summit on the crest of Franconia Ridge. One of the most popular hikes in the Northeastern United States is to traverse the summits of Little Haystack, Lincoln, and Lafayette in a loop. Mount Lincoln (New Hampshire)
Mount Lincoln is a mountain within the Franconia Range of the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Lincoln is located between Little Haystack and Mount Lafayette. All three overlook Franconia Notch. The west side of Lincoln drains into the main stem of the Pemigewasset River. The east side drains into Lincoln Brook, thence into the Franconia Branch of the Pemigewasset. The Appalachian Trail, a National Scenic Trail from Georgia to Maine, traverses Franconia Ridge, including Lincoln. The Franconia Range is a mountain range located in the White Mountains (New Hampshire), White Mountains of the United States, U.S. state of New Hampshire. It is the second-highest range of peaks (after the Presidential Range) in the White Mountains. White Mountain National Forest
The White Mountain National Forest (WMNF) is a federally managed forest contained within the White Mountains in the northeastern United States. It was established in 1918 as a result of the Weeks Act of 1911; federal acquisition of land had already begun in 1914. It has a total area of (1,225 sq mi). Most of the WMNF is in New Hampshire; a small part (about 5.65% of the forest) is in the neighboring state of Maine. Conservationist and community activist Katherine Sleeper Walden was instrumental in securing at-risk land for the forest, including thousands of acres in the region surrounding the locally famous Bowl near Wonalancet. While sometimes called a park, it is a national forest, used for logging and other limited commercial purposes in addition to recreational activities. Mount Lafayette
Mount Lafayette is a mountain at the northern end of the Franconia Range in the White Mountains (New Hampshire), White Mountains of New Hampshire, United States. It lies in the town of Franconia, New Hampshire, Franconia in Grafton County, New Hampshire, Grafton County, and appears on the New England Fifty Finest list of the most topographically topographic prominence, prominent peaks in New England. The mountain's upper reaches are located in the alpine zone, an area where only dwarf vegetation exists due to the harsh climate. Four-thousand Footers
The Four-thousand footers (sometimes abbreviated 4ks) are a group of forty-eight mountains in New Hampshire at least above sea level. To qualify for inclusion a peak must also meet the more technical criterion of topographic prominence important in the mountaineering sport of peak-bagging. The White Mountains Four Thousand Footers List was established by the Appalachian Mountain Club in 1957. The AMC calls it the White Mountains List, but others call it the New Hampshire List because it does not include Old Speck Mountain (4,170 ft) in Maine, which is outside the White Mountain National Forest but within the White Mountains. Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) is the oldest outdoor group in the United States.
