Falaisia
Falaisia (, before 1918: Μπούρα - ''Boura'') is a village and a former municipality in southwestern Arcadia, Peloponnese, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Megalopoli, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 274.926 km2. The seat of the municipality was in Leontari, 5 km northwest of the village Falaisia. The municipal unit Falaisia is located in the northern foothills of the Taygetus mountains, south of Megalopoli and north of Kalamata. It borders on Laconia to the southeast, and Messenia to the southwest. Neochori Falaisias () is a mountain village in the municipal unit of Falaisia, Arcadia, Greece. It is situated in the northern part of the Taygetus mountains, at about 1200 m elevation. It is 3 km east of Dyrrachio, 4 km west of Georgitsi, 17 km southeast of Leontari and 26 km southeast of Megalopoli. It suffered damage from the 2007 Greek forest fires. Giannaioi () is a community of the municipal unit of Falaisia in Arcadia, Peloponnese, Greece. It consists of the two mountain villages Ano Giannaioi and Kato Giannaioi. Ano Giannaioi is 1 km southeast of Kato Giannaioi. Both villages are situated on a mountain slope, in the northern foothills of the Taygetus mountains, between 600 and 700 m elevation. Akovos
Akovos () is a mountain village and a community in the municipal unit of Falaisia, southwestern Arcadia, Greece. It is situated in the foothills of the Taygetus mountains. Its nearest villages are Dyrrachio and Leptini. It is west of Dyrrachio, 4 km northeast of Poliani (Messenia), south of Leontari and south of Megalopoli. The community includes the village Goupata. History Theodoros Kolokotronis married and settled for several years in Akovos. In 1825, he fought a battle nearby in the village of Drampala against Ibrahim Pasha of Egypt. While waiting in Akovos for Ibrahim's forces, Kolokotronis vowed with the villagers that he would build a larger church, and he carved his initials into a stone of the Agia Sotira church. The anniversary of the battle is celebrated by the town on the day of the Pentecost. , his home is the village's Cultural Centre.
