Fake Shark - Real Zombie!
Fake Shark (formerly known as Fake Shark – Real Zombie!) is a Canadian alternative rock band from Vancouver, British Columbia. Originally formed in 2005, while their early musical style mainly combined elements of dance punk, post-hardcore and IDM, the group gradually evolved to a more commercially streamlined sound in 2015, within the realm of indie rock, electro pop, new wave and slacker rock. They are best known for their 2021 hit single, "Loser", which charted to #3 on the Canadian alternative radio and are currently signed to Canadian independent label, Light Organ Records. The band's current line-up consists of founding members and primary songwriters; lead vocalist, Kevin "Kevvy" Maher, guitarist, Louis Hearn (under the stage name, "Louis Wu") along with drummer, Alex Glassford, multi-instrumentalist, Jake Fox and bassist, Eryyk Novak. Alternative Rock
Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. Alternative rock acts achieved mainstream success in the 1990s with the likes of the grunge subgenre in the United States, and the Britpop and shoegaze subgenres in the United Kingdom and Ireland. During this period, many record labels were looking for "alternatives", as many Arena rock, corporate rock, hard rock, and glam metal acts from the 1980s were beginning to grow stale throughout the music industry. Keith Matthew Thornton (born October 7, 1963), known professionally as Kool Keith, is an American rapper and record producer known for his surreal, abstract, and often profane or incomprehensible lyrics. Hannah Georgas
Hannah Georgas (born 30 August 1983) is a Canadian pop/rock singer-songwriter, based in Vancouver, British Columbia. She was nominated in the categories of "Best New Artist of the Year" and "Songwriter of the Year" at the 2011 Juno Awards, and again at the 2013 Juno Awards for "Songwriter of the Year" and "Best Alternative Album". Biography Originally from Newmarket, Ontario, she played in a band with Tim Oxford of Arkells in high school before moving to Victoria, British Columbia to attend university. Annie Hardy
Annie Summer Hardy (born June 5, 1981) is an American musician. She is the lead vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter of the indie rock band Giant Drag, which she formed in 2003. After releasing their debut EP, '' Lemona'' (2004), the band was briefly signed to Kickball Records, a subsidiary of Interscope, who distributed their debut album, '' Hearts and Unicorns'' (2005). Their second album, '' Waking Up Is Hard to Do'' (2013), was independently released through the band's own label, Full Psycho Records. Die Mannequin was a Canadian alternative rock band from Toronto, founded by guitar player and singer Care Failure (born Caroline Slezak Kawa) in 2005. The band toured across Canada several times, opening for Buckcherry, Guns N' Roses, Marilyn Manson and Sum 41. They also toured Europe on several occasions, alone and as an opening act for Danko Jones in 2008. Klaxons were an English Rock music, rock band, based in London. Following the release of several Gramophone record, 7-inch singles on different independent record labels, as well as the success of previous singles "Magick (Klaxons song), Magick" and "Golden Skans", the band released their debut album, ''Myths of the Near Future (album), Myths of the Near Future'' on 29 January 2007. Mindless Self Indulgence
Mindless Self Indulgence (often referred to as MSI) is an American electropunk band formed in New York City in 1997. Their music has a mixed style which includes punk rock, alternative rock, electronica, techno, industrial, hip hop, and breakbeat hardcore. History Between 1987 and 1996, Jimmy Urine recorded about 35 songs which varied in musical style, usually settling in an industrial/electronic punk style. These songs were recorded with himself and his brother, Markus Euringer in New York City using rudimentary equipment. Urine and his brother released an album titled ''Mindless Self-Indulgence'', featuring Steve, Righ? on 'Bed of Roses', which featured songs performed in an industrial style akin to Nine Inch Nails. Slacker Rock
Slacker rock (also called slack rock) is a loosely defined genre of indie rock and lo-fi music that originated in the United States in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Definition The term typically refers to a style that is more laid back and relaxed when compared to regular and contemporary rock in order to make it more "authentic" when compared to other rock. New Wave Music
