Fagernes Tunnel
is a town in Nord-Aurdal Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The town is the administrative centre of the municipality as well as the largest urban/commercial centre for the Valdres region. It is located just northwest of the village of Leira and about south of the village of Skrautvål. The town has a population (2021) of 1,951 and a population density of . Fagernes lies approximately 3 hours northwest of the capital city of Oslo, and is an important destination for tourism in Norway, due to good transportation connections and the nature in the surrounding Valdres valley, including the mountain areas such as Jotunheimen and Spåtind. The European route E16 highway runs through the town. The Strondafjorden lake lies on the south side of the town. Tingnes Church is located in the town. Nord-Aurdal is a municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Valdres. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town Fagernes. Other urban centres in Nord-Aurdal include the villages of Aurdal, Leira, and Skrautvål. The municipality is served by Fagernes Airport, Leirin. Tingnes Church
Tingnes Church ( no, Tingnes kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Nord-Aurdal Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the village of Fagernes. It is the church for the Tingnes parish which is part of the Valdres prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Hamar. The brown, wooden church was built in a hexagonal design in 1972 using plans drawn up by the architect Karl Stenersen. The church seats about 260 people. History After World War II, planning began for a new chapel and cemetery in Fagernes. A new cemetery at Skogajordet was established in 1967. The cemetery is relatively hilly and surrounded by a picket fence. The architect Karl Stenersen was commissioned to design the new chapel in 1969 and made two drafts: a traditional church building and a more modern hexagonal building. Strondafjorden
Strondafjorden () is a lake which lies in the municipalities of Nord-Aurdal and Vestre Slidre in Innlandet county, Norway. The lake is part of the Begna watershed. The lake sits at an elevation of above sea level and it has a circumference of . The town of Fagernes is located at the southeast end of the lake. The northwest end of the lake is crossed by the Ulnes Bridge in the village of Røn. The European route E16 highway runs along the north shore of the lake, for its whole length. The Strondafjorden is a reservoir for the Faslefoss hydroelectric power plant. In 1919, a dam was built at the south end of the lake to regulate the lake for power production. Spåtind
Spåtind is a mountain in Innlandet county, Norway. The tall mountain is located on the border of Etnedal Municipality and Nordre Land Municipality about west of the town of Lillehammer and about northeast of the town of Fagernes. The mountain lies a few kilometers south of the border of Langsua National Park. Spåtind is the highest mountain in the mountain area known as Synnfjell. There are numerous cabins situated around the mountain, the largest cluster being Hugulia on the southern side. On the western side there is a facility for alpine skiing and a hotel. Name The first element is the verb ''spå'' which means "predict" or "see into the future", but here it was used in the old sense which used to mean "to scout" (related to the German word ''spähen'', the Latin word ''specio'', and the English word ''spy'').
