Faceoff
A face-off is the method used to begin and restart play after goals in some sports using sticks, primarily ice hockey, bandy, floorball, broomball, rinkball, and lacrosse. During a face-off, two teams line up in opposition to each other, and the opposing players attempt to gain control of the hockey puck, puck or ball after it is dropped or otherwise placed between their sticks by an official (ice hockey), official. In ice hockey, a play is offside if a player on the attacking team does not control the puck and is in the Hockey rink#Zones, attacking or offensive zone when a different attacking player causes the hockey puck, puck to enter the offensive zone, until either the puck or all attacking players leave the offensive zone. Bandy Playing Rules is the name of the rule book for bandy, edited by the Federation of International Bandy. The rule book is available online. The current book was adopted in September 2013. The rule book and the rules are overseen by the Rules and Referee Committee.
