Fabric 22
From November 2001 to November 2018, the London nightclub fabric ran a monthly mix compilation series. Mixed by a variety of emerging and established DJs, the two series were entitled ''fabric'' and ''FABRICLIVE'' respectively. The compilation mixes were released independently by fabric on an alternating monthly basis. In May 2018, fabric announced that the ''fabric'' series would end "in its current form" with its 100th installment; in October 2018, fabric revealed the final ''fabric'' compilation would be a triple-disc set, mixed by two of the club's residents— Craig Richards and Terry Francis—as well as its founder, Keith Reilly. In August 2018, the club announced that the ''FABRICLIVE'' series would also end with its 100th instalment, and would be mixed by Kode 9—founder of the celebrated underground electronic music label, Hyperdub—and Burial—a pioneering UK dubstep producer. Fabric (club)
Fabric (stylized as fabric) is a nightclub in Farringdon, London, England. Founded in 1999 on Charterhouse Street opposite Smithfield, London, Smithfield Market, the club was voted World Number 1 Club in ''DJ Magazine''s "Top 100 Clubs Poll" in 2007 and 2008 and ranked World Number 2 in 2009, 2010 and 2017. Fabric was closed down and its license was revoked by Islington London Borough Council, Islington Council in 2016, after two drug-related deaths at the club. Following a campaign to save the club it was permitted to be reopened with increased security and restrictions. Tony Humphries (musician)
Tony Humphries (born November 3, 1957) is an American electronic musician and DJ. He was one of the earliest proponents of house music and has been instrumental in spreading the genre on both sides of the Atlantic. Humphries' work encompasses studio production and remixes, radio slots on WRKS 98.7 Kiss FM and Hot 97, and DJ residencies at clubs including Club Zanzibar (Newark, New Jersey) and Ministry of Sound in London, UK. Adam Beyer
Adam Thomas Beyer (born 15 May 1976 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a Swedish electronic dance music producer and DJ. Originally starting his musical journey in the techno scene, over the last decade he has made a gradual shift playing everything between trance and techno. He is the founder of Drumcode Records, and is one of several Swedish EDM artists to emerge in the mid-1990s, along with Cari Lekebusch and Jesper Dahlbäck. Beyer was married to fellow Swedish DJ Ida Engberg (now divorced), with whom he has three daughters. John Digweed
Thomas John Digweed (born April 1967) is a British DJ and record producer. As well as achieving success as a solo act, he has collaborated with Sasha as Sasha & John Digweed, and with Nick Muir as Bedrock. Digweed was voted as No. 1 DJ in DJ Mag in 2001. Biography Digweed began DJing at the age of 15, and made a name for himself in his home town of Hastings, where he put on successful club nights, the most famous of which were his successful raves on Hastings Pier, where the likes of Carl Cox and The Prodigy performed. ''Fabric 20'' is a DJ mix compilation album by John Digweed, as part of the Fabric Mix Albums, Fabric Mix Series. It was whittled down from a five-hour set based on Digweed's time at Fabric. Genre ''Fabric 20'' is more similar to Digweed's Kiss 100 London, Kiss FM radio show, rather than his previous Progressive electronic dance music, progressive and house mixes. The first half is punctuated with a techy, electro music, electro vibe. The second half of the set features more of Digweed's uplifting sound that helped make him and Sasha a global phenomenon in the late 1990s. Critical reaction Many fans have commented that Digweed is "too commercial" or mainstream for an entry in the Fabric series. It received generally positive reviews, but some critics such as Pitchfork Media found the mix to be nothing particularly special. Andrew James Weatherall (6 April 1963 – 17 February 2020) was an English musician, DJ, songwriter, producer and remixer. His career took him from being a DJ in the acid house movement of the late 1980s to being a remixer of tracks by Happy Mondays, New Order, Björk, the Orb, the Future Sound of London, My Bloody Valentine, Saint Etienne, Primal Scream, Moby and James. Steve Cobby is a British producer, musician, composer, and DJ based in Kingston upon Hull, Yorkshire. He is best known for being part of Fila Brazillia. Career After disbanding his first band, Ashley & Jackson, on Big Life Records, he co-founded Fila Brazillia with David McSherry in 1990. Marc Leclair (born August 13, 1966), better known by his stage name Akufen, is a Canadians, Canadian electronic musician. His music is electronic music that is often described as minimal house, minimal techno, glitch (music), glitch, or microhouse. His 2002 debut studio album ''My Way (Akufen album), My Way'' introduced his concept of "microsampling", which was essentially a way of using extremely small and short clips of sampling (music), samples he had randomly recorded from FM radio broadcasts as a key musical element. Stacey Pullen is an American techno musician based in Detroit, Michigan, United States. Pullen was raised in Detroit, where he became interested in electronic music early in his life. He began working on the Detroit techno scene in 1990, studying with Derrick May (musician), Derrick May and working with him on business ventures. He used the aliases Bango, Kosmik Messenger, X-Stacy and Silent Phase. Michael Mayer (musician)
Michael Mayer (born 11 December 1971) is an electronic musician from Cologne, Germany. Mayer is a remixer, DJ and producer, and has released several singles on the Kompakt music label, working with founder Wolfgang Voigt. Mayer has also released music on Kompakt-related labels New Trance Atlantic and Kreisel 99. Biography Mayer was born and raised in Black Forest, Germany. At the age of 20, he moved to Cologne. With the help of Wolfgang and Reinhardt Voigt, he established Kompakt. In 2003, he released a pair of mixes. The first was based on several releases in Kompakt's "Speicher" series, while the second was commissioned by London's Fabric series.
