Fabian Russell
Fabian Russell is an Australian conductor and music educator. In 2002 he founded The Orchestra Project, where he is the artistic director. From 2011 to 2015 he was Principal Conductor and artistic director of the Monash Academy Orchestra at the Monash Academy of Performing Arts. Other conducting roles include appointments as an Associate Conductor of the Australian Youth Orchestra; Principal Guest Conductor of the New South Wales Youth Orchestra (2016–2019); and Principal Conductor and artistic director of Melbourne Youth Orchestras (2007–2011). Early life and training Born in Sydney, Australia in 1968, Russell's early musical training was as a euphonium and tuba player. Australian Youth Orchestra
The Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO), formerly Youth Music Australia, is a training organisation for young musicians. It originitated in the Summer camp, music camps founded by John Bishop (academic), John Bishop and Ruth Alexander in 1948. AYO offers tailored training and performance programs yearly for aspiring musicians, composers, arts administrators and music journalists, aged between 12 and 30. Queensland Symphony Orchestra
Queensland Symphony Orchestra (QSO) is an Australian symphony orchestra in the state of Queensland. The orchestra is based in the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's building in South Bank. The Orchestra is funded by private corporations, the state government and the Australian federal government through the Australia Council. History Queensland Symphony Orchestra played its first concert on 26 March 1947, consisting of 45 musicians, conducted by Percy Code. John Farnsworth Hall was recruited from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra as the Orchestra's first Chief Conductor. The Sydney Youth Orchestra (SYO) is a youth orchestra based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia and is the premier orchestral training ground in Australia for many young musicians. Darwin Symphony Orchestra
The Darwin Symphony Orchestra (DSO) is an orchestra based in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia, founded by Martin Jarvis. The DSO gave its first concert in 1989. The Orchestra receives funding from the Northern Territory Government and support from private corporations and donors including Charles Darwin University. The orchestra has over 90 musicians, and performs about eight concerts a year across the Northern Territory. The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra (ASO) is a South Australian orchestra based in Adelaide, established in 1936. The orchestra's primary performance venue is the Adelaide Town Hall, but the ASO also performs in other venues. Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra
The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (TSO) is a symphony orchestra based in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. It is the smallest of the six orchestras established by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). History The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra was established in 1948, and gave its first concert on 25 May in the Hobart Town Hall, conducted by Joseph Post. The soloist was the Tasmanian-born pianist Eileen Joyce, who performed the Piano Concerto in A minor by Edvard Grieg.
