Fabian Rießle
Fabian Rießle (also spelled Riessle, born 18 December 1990) is a German former nordic combined skier. Career At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi he won the bronze medal in the Nordic combined at the 2014 Winter Olympics – Individual large hill/10 km, individual large hill/10 km competition. He became 9th in the ski jumping and started 56 seconds behind the leader, teammate Eric Frenzel. Rießle joined the leading group by mid-distance, and at the finish line became third. Six days earlier, in the Nordic combined at the 2014 Winter Olympics – Individual normal hill/10 km, individual normal hill/10 km event he finished 8th. On 20 March 2014, Rießle together with Björn Kircheisen, Johannes Rydzek, and Eric Frenzel won the silver medal in the Nordic combined at the 2014 Winter Olympics – Team large hill/4 × 5 km, team event. The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 took place between 20 February and 3 March 2013 in Val di Fiemme, Italy, for the third time, the event having been hosted there previously in 1991 and 2003. The men's individual normal hill/10 km Nordic combined competition for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, was held at the Alpensia Ski Jumping Centre and Alpensia Cross-Country Skiing Centre on 14 February 2018. Summary The defending champion was Eric Frenzel; the field also included the 2014 silver medalist Akito Watabe and the 2010 champion Jason Lamy-Chappuis, who was coming out of retirement and was not considered a medal contender. Frenzel became the champion again, with Watabe again taking silver, and Lukas Klapfer becoming the bronze medalist. Nordic combined at the 2018 Winter Olympics was held at the Alpensia Ski Jumping Centre and Alpensia Cross-Country Skiing Centre. The three events were scheduled to take place between 14 and 22 February 2018. Qualification A total of 55 quota spots were available to athletes to compete at the games. A maximum of five athletes could be entered by any one National Olympic Committee. Johannes Rydzek
Johannes Rydzek (; born 9 December 1991) is a German nordic combined skier. He became Olympic champion on the large hill in 2018 and won six World Champion titles at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2015 and 2017. Career Rydzek has had a remarkable career in Nordic Combined, marked by numerous accolades at the World Championships, World Cups, and the Olympics. He debuted in the World Cup in Kuusamo in 2008. He first gained international recognition with a bronze medal in the 4 x 5 km team event at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Björn Kircheisen (also spelled Bjoern; born 6 August 1983 in Erlabrunn) is a German former nordic combined skier. He won four 4 x 5 km team medals at the Winter Olympics with three silvers (2002, 2006, 2014) and a bronze (2010). Kircheisen also won ten medals at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships with eight silvers (10 km individual large hill: 2009, 15 km individual: 2005, 4 x 5 km team: 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009) and two bronze (7.5 km sprint: 2007).
