Faaz
The Faaz (, "victorious") is a family of under-development Beyond Visual Range missile, beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile produced by Pakistani defense conglomerate Global Industrial Defence Solutions, GIDS. It is intended for use both by air platforms as air to air missiles as well as ground based air defense (GBAD) system units as a surface to air missile. Design The design of the Faaz is inspired from the Chinese SD-10 (missile), SD-10 missile. GIDS maintains it locally manufactures and owns intellectual property rights of the Faaz missile. History The Faaz was first revealed to the public during the International Defence Industry Fair, IDEF 2023 at Turkey. Both air variants and the SAM version were displayed. In 2024, media reports emerged from Turkey and Pakistan that both countries were planning to merge missile technology projects. Beyond-visual-range Missile
A beyond-visual-range missile (BVR missile) or beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile (BVRAAM) is an air-to-air missile that is capable of engaging at ranges around or beyond. This range has been achieved using dual pulse rocket motors or booster rocket motor and ramjet sustainer motor. Medium-range, long-range, and very-long-range air-to-air missiles fall under the category of beyond-visual-range missiles. Older BVR missiles generally used the semi-active radar homing, and modern BVR missiles use the active radar homing missile guidance, guidance. In addition to the range capability, the missile must also be capable of tracking its target at this range or of acquiring the target in flight.
